oct. 31 is a non-traditionlist often pagan (look up the definition for that word as most people get it wrong) holiday called Samhain. there are certain practices that different "witches" do to celebrate this holiday. It depends on the tradition (family or coven they belong to) as to what this celebration entails. For me it involves some candles, incense and a chant or two and an offering (apples,wheat and wine are common for this)to the universe for all good things that have been sent my way. you might want to look up the definition for Samhain also, it might give you better info. I can assure you it has nothing to do with trick or treating or animal sacrifices, although i do take my kids trick or treating. Samhain is basically acknowleging the end of summer and harvest and we just pretty much thank the gods for our bounty.
