Funny that you should ask such a question seeing that each and every day some Jesus is being shot dead somewhere. And yes, people, anybody will bow to a gun if there is a chance they can live through it. And these days I see just as many gold chains with AK47's hanging on them as see crosses.

Your not a Jehovah's witness are you? I had the same question from a JW years ago.
You are missing the point. The cross is to remind peole that jesus died for them even you. Even if guns where invented 2000 years ago Jesus still would have been crucified. A lot more painful than being shot. Just think he did that for you.

I don't think its that simple. Its not worn as jewellery because its supposedly the method of Jesus's death, look at the actual shape. Its very simplistic, symmetrical and simple. Some people probably wear it because it looks nice. Also, this method of killing isn't practised anymore so it doesn't represent an instrument of death anymore, it has become to represent Jesus to Christians.
A gun on the other hand is currently a weapon of murder, its image has a completely different set of psychological influences.
In conclusion, in order for your question to make any sense you have to alter the entire fabric of time, therefore any christian will not be able to give a sensible answer as the question is crap.

I'm reluctant to say yes. There were no guns two thousands of years ago, but there were similar things such as bows and arrows. However, Jesus Christ was not shot dead, but crucified.
You might want to read this:

In this article the Cross is called the "great instrument of Redemption".

Jesus did not even die on a cross! He died on a torture stake, which is a pole and even if you were to wear a pole around your neck, it would still be wrong cause you would be commiting Idolatry!
Exodus 20:4-7 ""You must not make for yourself a carved image or a form like anything that is in the heavens above or that is on the earth underneath or that is in the waters under the earth. 5 You must not bow down to them nor be induced to serve them, because I Jehovah your God am a God exacting exclusive devotion, bringing punishment for the error of fathers upon sons, upon the third generation and upon the fourth generation, in the case of those who hate me; 6 but exercising loving-kindness toward the thousandth generation in the case of those who love me and keep my commandments"
And plus, why would a TRUE christan need a cross to remind them of god and his laws, when they should live by them daily out of there own faith in god?

well jesus was NAILED to a cross - and I dont wear a nail, he was nailed to a cross by soldiers - and I still dont carry a spear, nails or a mallet? jesus was also crucified - I dont wear a crown of thorns either.
Mohammed as written in the koran - married and eight year old girl and had sex with her.I could ask a silly and leading question on that - but I wont, tio those who may come on and call me a liar - please read your Koran first, its there, along with the belief that JESUS was a prophet.

lol no i would not because smart people don't carry around guns. Unless you WANT to get arrested. Well, in Australia anyway. Would you? I think that crosses are not being worn religiously, but following the latest fashions.

This is silly, they didn't have guns back then. Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins. He died the most brutal death of all. He died with criminals (sinners) just like you and I. We wear the cross to remind us of the price. Read the bible.

I do not wear any kind of jewelry. I do not need a piece of gold to show my commitment to my God.
