Yummy Tuna Casserole or Tuna Salad

Well, not bare macaroni and tuna, but something like Pasta-Roni (most any variety will do per your preference on taste) with a can of tuna in water (or in oil if you like it creamier) makes a GREAT lunch in a microwave, which is quick and easy. I take a box of Pasta-Roni (I prefer shells and cheese) and add the stuff it says except for a 1/4 cup water, and cook for 10 minutes on high in the microwave, about 2/3rd's of the normal time. Then I add the tuna and water and cook for the rest of the time, another 5 minutes plus a couple of minutes more because of the cold tuna and water added. Your mileage may vary depending on the power of your microwave. Adjust times according to the power keeping it to about 2/3rd's on the pasta before adding the tuna and then the remaining 1/3rd plus a bit to compensate for the cold ingredients added. Tuna in oil will give more tuna flavor than tuna in water. Stir after you take it out and let it sit for a few minutes to let the sauce thicken and viola! It is perfect for a hearty lunch which meets several of the food group requirements. It is great on a rainy day in winter. 20 minutes start to finish and virtually no manual labor. Hard to beat in the rush, rush, rush environmnet we all seem to live in these days. Be prepared to share or put some into a container to take home for later as this makes too much for one person, about twice as much in fact. Add some tomato soup (with oyster crackers), a simple green salad, and this makes a simple dinner for two, which I have done several times.

Check out Rachel Ray and her 30 Minute Meal programs on the food channel. She does this kind of thing and it was from one of her programs that I got the idea of simply adding tuna to a pasta dish, only she made her sauce fron scratch instead of using a package dish like Pasta-Roni as I do.

add some cheese, mushrooms, cream of mushroom soup. Top with crushed potato chips and bake. And yes I like it. My Mom makes the best tuna casserole. I am almost 50 years old and I still love my Mom's cooking

Yes especially if it includes lots of celery and onion and mixed with mayo and served as a cold tuna pasta salad. It is great.

never hear of the combination but if you use a good sauce would be ok; i know penne pasta is used a lot with tuna and tomatoe sauce (onion, garlic, bay leaves, oregano, basil ...etc), but if you like macaroni do not see the problem
