Especially if you are an adult male? One of my stupid cats hisses and growls at me all of the time.My wife say's it' because I play with him too rough, but sometimes he does it even when I'm just petting him.
I know it sounds goofy.Maybe he's not the real p ussy, LOL.

Dahnna, that is what bugs me about this furry dude;He was supposed to be my cat, as the tabby
is a one person only cat and has already bonded to my wife.I love cats, but I do think it might be a good idea to get a Dog.I always tell the cats that when they start giving me an attitude. as I know they will like a dog a whole hell of alot less than they dislike me!

One thing I have observed about cats:Any cat with wild cat in it is a lot easier to play with. They seem to be stronger and they just have no real fear of you. They know that they can tear your a-ss up so I guess they think "why bother".I knew a Woman who had a Cat that was part lynx;He was a really pettable, personable cat that never hissed at anyone.

Hi there...sounds like you're a super sensitive kind soul despite your kitty prefers your wife over you. I certainly would understand why you would feel neglected. Cat's loyalty always leans towards those who feed them regularly. However you could help the kitty learn to favour you more often if you offer special kitty treats. I have yet to meet a cat (both domestic and exotic) who doesn't love Shaved Dried Bonito Flakes: http://www.thecatconnection.com/page/TCC/PROD/TRT/KITTYKAVIAR_1oz&AFFIL=D1b9411a?gclid=CJr-m-SRiYgCFShCYwodwmzRMg . It's something to consider if you're willing to purchase some found at most specialty pet food stores and at some larger established chain pet stores.
This makes cats go bonkers for whoever is handing out these healthy delictable treats. He'll change his tune if you submit to these weak moments of spoiling him. ;-)

I can relate but on the case of dogs. Sometimes they just don't like you. Many dogs have a favorite and only want to be approached by the owner the like better. Perhaps this is the same behavior your cat is displaying. I'd say just let him be and let him come around you when he feels like it. It is annoying, I know, but it is better than forcing him to like you or getting scratched really bad in the face or arms.
*It isnt weird to have your feelings hurt by a cat. There is much love exchanged between pets. They are/can be loyal friends and there is a trust there. Perhaps you can get a cat of your own so you too can have a cat that loves you very much.

AW! thats so cute, i love men who love kitties! Ha, no but seriously for some reason your cat senses something on you, i dont think he feels threatened as previously said because if that was the case he would run away not growl and hiss, do you wear a special cologne? or have your hair cut a dramatic way? believe it or not, cats dont like certain things, some cats hate the smell of hairspray or a bad scent and will hiss when they smell it, you may have shirts or sweaters that are a different matirial and he could be hissing at what you wear, wierd but belive me its true, i raise cats, some of them have bazzare personas!

Some cats only like contact in certain ways. While I totally understand having your feelings hurt by your cat, I also know that cats are more particular than dogs.
I have had two cats for sixteen years and a couple of times they have ignored me and that really bothered me. I discovered that if you go to your cat sometimes and pet your cat as your cat prefers, you develop a really close relationship with your cat.
My cats even come when I call them. That is how close we are.
Take care,
Troy

Our cat is like that, too. My husband has been play fighting with her ever since she was a kitten, and sometimes she just won't let him cuddle with her. Even when she's in the mood to hiss at him, she is still always gentle with me. He is her playmate. But I think he wants to be the one to decide whether it's cozy time or play time. Men who like cats are very sensitive and sexy.
You're not a p ussy.

When my cat had kittens, I took them into living room when they were about 3 weeks old. After she took them back, she sat down in front of me and proceeded to call me every name in the book (in cat language, of course). I thought it was cute, but I also respected her and it never happened again. The moral is: Cats are people too and should be treated according to the golden rule. He doesn't forget that even though you're petting him now, sometimes you get rough. Be consistant to gain his trust.

Maybe you're just not a cat person. Cats don't hiss at people unless they really don't like them or feel threatened by them. Give it time and see if the cat gets used to you. Cats don't usually like it when people play rough with them though, so try to be gentler.

Try feeding the cat his favorite treat. Make sure that you are the only one in the family who gives him that treat. I think he'll eventually decide that he likes you. Bribery may be wrong between people but it works wonders with animals!

I too have a cat who seems to "hate" me, but only if I go to him, if he comes to me, then it's the loudest purring known to man! I don't get it, but fortunately, I have 5 others who love me all the time, so whatever cat!
