"Where are the men that came to you tonight?" states Genesis. They thought the angels were men not women. There is no ambiguous gender mentioned or inferred.
Men and boys were looking for these men=sodomy. Lot offered his daughters instead and they didn't want them.
If they were not butt f***ers then why was it called Sodom in the first place?
By the way, I am a non-believer but I thought I would answer the question to the best of my knowledge. The church propagating homophobia would be another great question.
AND I know a lot of sodomizing straight people.

Part of the problem may be in translation. In many languages, the neuter is the same as the masculine(in English, the masculine and the neuter are different.) So when the Bible scholars set about translating the Bible into English, any references to sex with sexless individuals may have been recorded as sex with men. Hence the confusion and the apparent depiction of homosexuality.

The Bible tells us that angels have the ability to appear as human beings. The term Sodomites does come from the Biblical reference in Genesis 19. The residents of Sodom (Sodomites) did indeed view Lot's visitors as men.
Later on, in Ezekiel, Sodom's sin was identified as pride and a lack of compassion and empathy.

I'd say the following scriptures support sodomy ~ homosexuality. Especially Judges 19 since the owner is inclined to allow the men to have sex with the Levite's concubine but not with the Levite himself.
Genesis 19
6 Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him 7 and said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wicked thing. 8 Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don't do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof."
Judges 19
22 While they were enjoying themselves, some of the wicked men of the city surrounded the house. Pounding on the door, they shouted to the old man who owned the house, "Bring out the man who came to your house so we can have sex with him."
23 The owner of the house went outside and said to them, "No, my friends, don't be so vile. Since this man is my guest, don't do this disgraceful thing. 24 Look, here is my virgin daughter, and his concubine. I will bring them out to you now, and you can use them and do to them whatever you wish. But to this man, don't do such a disgraceful thing."
As for homosexuality being condemned by God.
Leviticus 18:22
Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.
Leviticus 20:13
If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
Angels are not genderless, that must be some secular or non-Christian belief. The Bible clearly says that all messenger angels appearing in the bible were men, and one young man at the empty tomb. By that logic every time it says man or woman in the bible it doesn't mean anything, Mary could have been a man and Joseph a woman by that logic.
The only female members of the heavenly host are spoken of in Zechariah.
Zechariah 5:9
Then I looked up—and there before me were two women, with the wind in their wings! They had wings like those of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between heaven and earth.

You know, I'm getting TIRED of people trying to say that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality. Both the Old and New Testament strongly condemn such a practice.
As it relates to your question, you need to read the Bible. Three MEN appeared to Abraham : Jesus (before His incarnation) and two angels. Where did you get the idea that they looked like women? Recall that Lot offered the men of Sodom his two virgin daughters WHOM THE REFUSED, and the men even accused Lot that as a stranger in their city, he had no right to condemn their lifestyle. What lifestyle was that?
If you want to justify homosexuality, look elsewhere. You wouldn't find such justification in the Bible.

you got it right there. The primary sin of sodom and it's twin city were that the people who lived there were very nasty to strangers - it had nothing to do with being gay or lesbian nor did it have anything to do with anal sexual activity despite the similarity of names. But then again those who display ther hatred of things not "normal" will use even the flimsiest of texts and distort them to their own way to prove their misguided point. They did it in the USA against black people (yes they even used the bible to 'prove blacks were inferior and shodl be enslaved) and they will do it against anyone who they perceive to be different. So before they use it against you you better stand up and demand equality for all.

Man... some people always find a way to twist the true to accommodate them to their convenience, The people in Sodom didn't want the daughters of Lot, it is understood the angels look ed male, (the angels are male or female if you didn't know), the origin of the word "Sodomite" says it all, It is not the churc it is what the bible says Jackass...

Sodom is associated with homosexuality because the angels were disguised as men, and the men of the city wanted Lot to throw the men out so they could be raped. Technically, homosexuality was NOT the main reason God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. The MAIN reason for their destruction was their pride. Sure abominable things were part of the reason it was destroyed, but pride was number one.
Eze 16:49 Behold, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom; pride. Fullness of bread and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters. Nor did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
Eze 16:50 And they were haughty and did abominable things before Me, so I turned away as I saw fit.

We must never give up the fight to educate the ignorant ones. The church preaches hate and discrimination. It takes a special person to rise above the brainwashing and see the truth. It is possible to be a Christian and accept peoples sexual orientation. Those Christians are rare and should be very much respected.
