What would happen if i bred a AKC reg. German shepard with a wolf hybrid. Would that be concedered making the german shepard better

What i am thinking is since it already is a hybrid some of it's natural temperments is lowered. If i breed it again with the hybrid that should make it more non aggresive. Also in theory im thinking it will be healthier than a pure breed, after all it won't have all of those breed only diseases.Torbaynewf said something about DNA screening for that purpose.
in theory mutts are better they are cheaper to get, lower med bills due to less breed ilnesses. and technically all dogs came from wolves anyway.

Ann,I am not worried about the akc pedigree i figured since AKC is supposed to be the best bloodlines i could instill some of what the shepard was bred for and the good qualities of the wolf hybrid into the pups. Correct me if i am wrong but are alot of the breeds that are AKC reconized breeds just not to long ago reconized.I also have 2 wolf hybrids they are far from the "monsters" that you say they are. my 3 year old will walk right up to them and hug them around the neck and lay his head on their face they lick him. they are very protective of him. What about peek a poos and other dogs like that why do people pay so much for them. is it because it is 2 desirable dogs rolled into one. i have more fear for some of these AKC breeds than the hybrids. I stated before that all dogs are from wolves so does that mean all of your breeds are actually mutts. i came here for help not to have what im doing jutified by you people. but it seams i am more confused.

ok it seems eveyone has missed my point. I HAVE ALOT OF EXPERIANCE WITH HYBRIDS. I know what they can and can't do i have owned hybrids since i was very young,i am now 32. perhaps it is the way i treat them why i never was attacked, perhaps it is because they are not what the world makes them out to be. i just came in here to find out if that cross would make the german shepard part more healthy. but all i got was rude answeres, people ridiculing me for my choices, and someone saying be responsible spay or neauter your pets. Maybe people should practice that on themselves then we wouldn't have the problems we have today. or perhaps we should all have interacial relationships to help get rid of disease and hate.that is why i love wolf hybrids so much every ounce of their feeling is true, theydon't hate or ridicule you based on color or thoughts, i have known dogs that hated certain races, at no fault of the owners.

I think it would make a great mix. I am sure that someone doing this would know the laws in their area concerning this matter, unlike those who breed other types of "large breed" dogs.

A wolf hybrid, who is properly trained, would not be anymore aggresive and dangerous than a pit bull or a Husky.

Make sure you feed it plenty of Puppy Chow, That is great food for dogs!!!!!

Oh, I wondered how long it would take for my ol friend Torbey to answer back. Trust me, my answer helped this guy alot.!!!!!

By the way, my husband wanted to know if you were in the hole on your last litter cause you had so many vet bills from inbreeding your dogs or from fines from the police department from the complaints about your puppy mill. Just curious.

Yeah, uh huh, you don't do it for profit. I am so sure. Yep, I believe you. Do I sound sincere? And yeah, he knows. He is sitting right here.

Wow, your a woman!!! You sound like a guy. Poor husband you have. You must really find me interesting. I have never been so attracted to someone on Yahoo Answers that I read everyone of their questions. Sorry hun, I'm not interested in you, but don't worry. Maybe you and Get Em Gang can hook up sometime!
You know, and share your wealth of knowledge.
Have a nice day!!!!

I'm honored that you find me so interesting that you have spent the last two days going back and reading each and every question I have ever posted. Do you have a real job? And sorry to hurt your feelings but actually I am following my own answers, kinda like you seem to be doing. Only difference is that you find me way more interesting than I find you.
Sounds like you are envious of my having the, lets just say, looks to strip. Husbands like yours are the ones who support strippers. You might try to not be so masculine, and you would probably get more attention from him. Just a suggestion!

Its cause you are such a bully, he's scared of you. Oh, trust me, the first one would have loved me to stick around, but I'm not into bullies. Hey, you two have alot in common, you want his number?

Well, sorry, he didn't ditch me, but you still might like him. He like someone else I can name, thinks he is smarter than he really is, another reason I divorced him. OH NO!! Now I guess you'll say I am really a horrible person for commiting the sin of divorce. And I was so seeking your approval. Please, I want us to still be friends.

In my experience, the dog breeds which are the least likely to develop human aggression issues are the Pug, Beagle, English Bulldog, and Boston Terrier. I haven't really seen an example of any of those breeds that I would say had a serious aggression issue, though I have met more than a few nervous Beagles. Well-bred Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, Pit Bulls, and Greyhounds would be right up there as well. On the other hand are the breeds which are most likely to be aggressive. I have never had a pleasant experience with a Yorkie. In fact, of the 50 or so Yorkies that I have encountered, I would say all 50 had some sort of aggression issue. Chow Chows, Akitas, and Chihuahuas are right up there as well. But, I would say that the most aggressive dog breeds are the various breeds of Terrier from Scotland, the Scottish Terrier, West Highland White Terrier, Cairn Terrier, Dandie Dinmont Terrier, and Skye Terrier. Scotties and Westies in particular are very bitey dogs.

Wolves and wolf hybrids are not the pet for everyone. They must be contained in a secure pen because they can be escape artists. Caution must be used with small children – these animals play rough and often cannot be taught to inhibit their rough behaviour. They are also very protective of food and possessions. Most states require permits for these animals and in some states they cannot be owned at all.
We enjoy wolf dogs – they are sensitive, intelligent and affectionate. They are naturally hardy and are rarely prone to health problems or genetic disorders.
Have we convinced you that wolf dog ownership is not for you?”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A wolf hybrid is the “creation” of a new species.
Canis Lupus and Canis Familiaris – the wolf and the dog – once mixed, one creates a hybrid. Wolf dogs are VERY special animals, with specialised needs that require more attention and work than an ordinary domestic dog
The Lupus Foundation is against hybridising. It is not the animal – but rather the potential owners – that we have a problem with. NOT ALL hybrid owners are aware of the animals needs, nor are they sufficiently knowledgeable on the subject of wolves or hybrids when they purchase these animals.

In the end, it is the animal that suffers!
Usually by the time the animal has out-grown the “cute puppy” stage, the owners realise that they have a “difficult” animal on their hands. Not knowing what to do with them, they are usually “farmed out” to unsuspecting new owners, euthanaised or abandoned.

Be a responsible pet owner, and spay and neuter your pets.

Breeding should be practiced by liscensed professionals with expierence and education.

The AKC part would not matter inthe least since the puppies could not be registered. AND in many state, you could be fined, and the puppies confiscated. How would it be better for a breed to make mutt puppies???????

Huskymom, I do know the law in MY area...Wolf hybrids are ILLEGAL. Newfies, however, are not as they are not an aggressive, whiney breed. Wonder how that helps THIS guy????

Gee Huskymom, I have 5 dogs the same as you. Wait, you may have 6. And , no, no vet bills from the breeding. Just puppy shots, worming, puppy aptitude tests, and the cardiologist visits.

I hubby aware that you post about your 64 previous sexual partners?????????????? OH YEAH...that was a "joke".

Oh yeah...and Huskymom...MY husband wants to know if you bred you litter to replace that cash your hubby cleaned outta your checking account, or because you are not used to living so poor after the stripping has stopped??????

That is funny that you would think I CARE about what you think!!! That is funny!!!!!!!!! You can think what you want about me just like I can about you!!!! We do not exactly travel in the same circles!!! I WON'T see you at a dog show!!!!!!! LMFAO!!!

And you MUST be into me, since you keep following my answers!!!!!! Really, I know strippers are know for the Lesbian thing, but I don't roll that way. Sorry!!!!!!!

I must not be the one with the husband problem...I am only on the first one.

If he ditched you, he might be a great guy!!!!

Don't worry about the AKC .

You could never register any of the pups or their children or grandchildren.......

Improve the shepard??? NO. Not for job for which it was bred

I handled wolf crosses many years ago. They are not reliable in their temperment or behavior - at least not as compared to a domestic dog. Very reliable for a wolf - you never gave an inch, never looked away and never ever backed off or showed fear.

I would never bred a Lovley AKC reg. German Shepard with a wolf. Wolfs are magnificent animals but they should have never been made into pets as people have them today. If you bred them chances are you will not only make more unwanted dogs, but you would destroy some of your German Shepherd and make some ugly dogs.

How would adding a "mutt" into the mix make a purebred better?! You will have nothing but mutt puppies.
