Jane Goodal was a seriously brillant woman. GW Bush could learn so much from her.

1. Listen. Other people have a point of view. Just because it differs from yours, maybe fundamentally, doesn't mean there isn't merit in the view.

2. Dialogue. Nothing happens without communication. Only with communication can understanding happen. Only with communcation can compromise happen. Only with communication can a solution be reached that is beneficial to all parties, the classic win-win solution, with truly beneficial results. It may not be there, but if such a solution exists, it will ONLY happen with dialogue.

3. People you do not believe are right. Everyone has an opinion, and some are fundamentally evil. But without pause, when we react without thinking, bad things happen. The best solution is always, always found with listening and dialogue.

If you want to change things, you have to be aware of exactly what those things are. So, listening is a really important first step.
And then, a most effective way to change someone else's thinking and/or behavior is to inspire that person to want to change. Dialogue means shared conversation as opposed to forcing your views on another.
Finally, the only person you truly have any control over is yourself. Lead by example and effect change the same way. (In other words: be your word. Don't say one thing and do the opposite.)

It means that people who are trying to make change happen are doing so because they think someone one else isn't doing something right. And the way they are doing it is by listening to what those people have to say, and then talking about the issue.

If someone is doing something you don't think is right, then you have to listen to them (to see their side of the story) and then talk to them about your side. Start a dialogue and work it out after you hear each other out

You can make change happen by learning from others and stand up against other people they're doing something wrong from your point of view.

The only way to change an action someone else is doing is by saying something to them about it. Not that they will change for you.

It means that when you stop talking and just listen to another person, even if you don't belive what they are saying, that just by listening you show that person you care.
