Whats the point? I mean the braces are moving your teeth the way they are suppsose to be, so shouldn't there be less need to floss?

Flossing is always important, even more so when you do have braces. You have no idea what kind of junk gets stuck up in there between the teeth and wires. The last thing you want to deal with is cavities. They make little pick things that you can feed the floss through so you can easily get it through the wires. The best time to floss is in the evening when you brush your teeth before bed, that way the junk isn't sitting on/between teeth all night while you sleep. The braces are only giving you a nice smile, they aren't cleaning your mouth so make sure you take the steps to keep it healthy. Good luck

YES! YES! YES and ,oh yeah, YES! Please get rid of this mentality. Oral care consist of four things, brushing three times a day FLOSSING & rinsing daily and visiting your dentist every six months. Especially with braces you need to floss. Braces cause a lot of food to get in between your teeth, The only thing that reaches BETWEEN your teeth is floss. What good is it to spend time and ,money in nice straight teeth if you are going to create for yourself some form of gum disease and tartar build up??????? Anyone out there who thinks it is not necessary to floss when you have braces-----you are dead wrong!

Yes, flossing is just as important to keep your teeth clean. Braces are only straightening the teeth out, you want to make sure that they aren't straight and rotten teeth. Get it? But flossing is much, much more difficult with braces. Good luck.

There's more need -- the braces trap food and you can get a big bad gum infection and maybe even lose teeth. Floss like your life depends on it!!

Floss removes the food between your teeth that can cause tooth decay. If you don't like to floss that often, at least get a waterpik. They work well. I have a cordless one, so I can use it in the shower.

Floss unless you want
1) your gums to bleed
2) your teeth to loosen from gum disease
3) huge cavities to form between your teeth
4) large fillings which will probably require
5) lots of shots....and if that doesn't work
6) maybe some root canals

Does that kind of help?

flossing is even MORE important if you have braces. food gets stuck in them, even if you dont think there is anything there. it can get pretty gross if you dont floss them.
