OK, why do people just let thier dogs bark with out making any effort to correct or quiet them. My neighbor has a jack russel that barks at EVERYTHING, even when he is home he just lets the dog bark. We live in an apartment with a common entry, so everytime the main door opens, the dog goes nuts! We have a dog too but we have always corrected him so he doesnt bark for "no reason". We complained to the mngmnt company, but it was no help. The neighbor is an attorney, so I dont want to complain too much, plus we all have to live here... BUT WHY do people do this? I think it is so RUDE!

Obviously this whole barking thing just doesn't bother the owner, so you have to make it his problem by making this dogs barking annoy him. I assume this attorney like any other person sleeps, and as we all know a person just cant sleep very well with a barking dog. I suggest you buy yourself a dog whistle, and late at night just blow it as hard as you can for as long as possible, it should drive this dog mad as well as cause all the neighbors to lose sleep and start complaining en-masse. The other suggestion is to take up the tuba.

Some people just should not have dogs. Your neighbor doesn't realize that a dog is a pack animal, and needs the attention of his 'family.' He doesn't like being left alone for long periods. That's why he's barking so much. Also, a dog needs to know and obey the 'alpha' member of the family; if the alpha refuses to take control, the dog turns into a spoiled creature...who will bark all the time and not obey! In a closed environment like your apartment complex, this is unacceptable. Your neighbor should be turned in both to the police and to the Humane Society.

That is really rude of him. i am sorry you are having to deal with this issue. I have a dog and I am a dog lover, i do not understand how he can stand the dog barking all of the time himself. If my dog barked like that it would drive me crazy. There is really nothing you can do if the management if unwilling to do anything, however, in the evening. It is his responsibility to keep that dog quiet there are laws against excessive noise in every city. I would call the police on him if he is unwilling to keep the dog from causing a disturbance. Good luck and God bless

I know!!! When we loved in an apartment we complained constantly about one of our neighbors, who had a couple of labs and 3 little furry muts. Never did it do one bit of good! For years that was all we heard. Sometimes we thought we may lose our minds! When we bought a house out in the country, for about 2 months we hear "fantom" barking. We thought the horror would never end. People like that should be fined!

People don't hear their own dogs. You should say something to the neighbor like does my dog bother you when it barks at the garbage man? That way your making it about what would be good for her instead of you. Maybe that would give her a hint.

That IS rude, you are right. Especially if the smallest attempt to make the dog behave is not made. He could tell his dog to shut up for starters, yell it even. I am lucky because my lab is a quiet dog but some dogs are just yappers. He needs to yell it him to shut up and if that doesn't work he needs to squirt water mist into his face or spank his hiney. I had a dog I had to spank once...but it did get him to be quiet. You need to say something to this man in a nice way. Don't just let it keep going on.

If the dog is barking during the day, there's really nothing you can do about it. However, if the dog is barking past the hour your town has set for the "noise ordinance" then you can call the police about it after that time.

The only thing that you can do is move. Thats what I did. Not only sis I have to put up with barking dogs, I had to put up with: Music balrring at all hours, stomping feet from upstairs, a woman who screamed obscenities to her kids ALL DAY LONG, unsupervised kids running and screaming in front of my windows...you get the picture. I love where I live now!!!

Ya..That Suks.. Some people just don't care. And some seem to like annoying others. Got the same problem here. A dog and a rooster.. The rooster is against city ordinance.. But I'm not going to be the one to drop the dime. Believe in Karma here..

What difference does it make if he is an attorney, if the dog is becoming a nuisance the call the authorities.
