It could cause an intestinal blockage because it'd be about the right size. It might pass right through, but the whole thing is pretty chancy.

I suggest taking the dog to the vet ASAP for an X-ray and a consultation.

it may cause trouble, but look at his stool for the next 24-48 hours for the rubber ball. If in between he stops eating, tries to vomit, or gets really painful in the stomach take him to an emergency clinic. He may have an obstruction. Which is a blockage caused by the ball. We had a weimaraner swallow a rubber ball a few months ago and he needed surgery. if you see any abnormal signs like i mentioned take him, but if he passes it without any problems that's better for you and your dog. Goodluck!

p.s what the vet would do it take an x-ray and if probably try to let it pass on its own. It depends on where in the digestive system it is. If it is in the stomach they will probably wait for it to move. same with if it is in the colon. if it doesn't move within 6 hours they will probably go for surgery.

My dog eats rubber toys all the time and she is fine. it may take a day or two to pass but just keep an eye on it by walking him to go to the bathroom instead of just letting him out. If it doesnt pass after 2 days then take him to the vet for xrays and see was the dr has to say. But like i said my dog eats crazy things and we've never had any problems with her.

Most objects that make it to the stomach are either digested or simply passed with the stool or regurgitated out.

Here's a story about a dog that swallowed a rubber ball that stayed in there for over 10 years. Complete with x-rays.

It would be a good idea to see a vet...IMMEDIATELY.

If your son swollowed a small rubber ball that you get out of a gumball machine, would you be worried?

The most obvious thing to do is take it to the vet to get removed before it causes any damage to the dog.

Yes, you need to be very worried. Don't wait and take him to the Emergency room at your nearest Hospital. He may not seem troubled now, but it needs to be removed. The passage from his stomach into the small/large intenstine, can become blocked from the rubber ball. It would be great if it would just pass through, but with his little passageways and his small intestine they could become damaged from being so small. , I am afraid for a blockage. Go soon and get help.

Oh yes it can get stuck or just sit in his stomach or intestines. Any kind of foreign object in their system is not good. The littlest pieces of plastic or tennis ball, anything from a toy can cause major problems. You need to at the least call your vet ASAP and let them know and get their advice. They might have some trick's you can try at home but you need to talk to them. Your going to have to watch very closely to see if it passes. Good Luck!

Ball game: in danger of swallowing a ball or a small toy. Run to the vet immediately just in case. Frequent Symptoms: uneasiness, vomit, and diarrhea.

If it was a smaller ball I wouldn't worry because he would just pass it out. But the size you described may be too big for him to pass. I would give your vet a call.

I wouldn't be worried about it. Unless you wanted to keep the rubber ball.
But if you are indeed worried about it, you can always check the dogs stool for the next couple of days to see if the ball has come out.

Thanks for the two points.
