dont want to have all the recipe books around would like to be able to place favorite family recipes on computer

My mother did a fund raiser at our church where people submitted their recipes and she made a cookbook and then sold it to people in the community. You can but software to help you form your own cookbook. Of course you don't have to publish it, but that software would help you store the recipes on discs. Also, using Microsoft Word or other processors are an option. Also, you could start a website or blog where you and your family can all read and add recipes, maybe even some you've forgotton about.

I've wanted to do this myself, but I'm new to computers, so I don't really know how to do anything. I tried using "Notepad", but can't organize or alphabetize anything.
