Dog fleas and mites are parasites. They will live on pretty much anything that breathes and has blood. However there isn't much area on a human where the flea(S) would find a safe home. Which is why they prefer dogs. Fur covered ^^
(Flea fact: If you happen to spot one flea chances are that within a few days there will be close to 200. One flea can lay upwards of 200 eggs.)
If you suspect that your dog has fleas or mites, there are some ways to make sure that your dog doesn't have them. However Advantage ( a brand of flea medicine that you can get from your vet) not only kills the fleas on your dog, but it will also kill the eggs, larvae, and other fleas that are in your carpet or furnature. (Which chances are that there are some there if your dog walks there.)

I don't know if someone has responded in this manner, but dog fleas and mites can not live on humans, however, they can "test" humans as hosts by taking a bite.

Dog fleas can jump on humans & bite them but I don't think they live on them. Eggs can stay in surroundings/furnishings so you need to deflea everything then make sure the dog/s are on a regular program like Frontline etc for fleas & worms. Mites...I'm not sure about but I think there are some parasites that can be transferred to humans, worms too.

all mites are species specific, meaning that no animal mite can live on us. however the common 'nit' happens to be our species specific mite, so nit's can't live on dogs or cats. fleas also are restricted to certain species. they will bite us if the land on us but they can not live on us or breed from us. i hope this helps and if you have a problem with mites and fleas i can give you more advise.

Dog fleas and cat fleas are actually the same. Cats and dogs get the same fleas. There are certain parasites that humans and dogs can both get, such as lice. Fleas cannot live on humans, but they can bite us.

It's quite rare because fleas don't like the smell of horses so you'll probably never find fleas on your horses. Your main worry in that line is ticks

CAT FLEAS ARE THE SAME AS DOG FLEAS AND MITES CAN SURVIVE ON HUMANS IF THEY ARE NOT TOO DIRTY FOR THE MITES.
