Why are we risking nuclear war just to protect Israel?

From the time Clinton first bombed Bin Laden in '98, through the return of Israeli/Palestinian warfare under Sharon, to Afghanistan and Iraq, and now on to North Korea and/or Iran (at the risk of nuclear fallout), we must remember that none of this would be taking place were it not for the disputes between Israel and the Arab World. How is it that a place hardly the size of a dozen U.S. counties has such a deathgrip on our political system?

Where to start ? If you'r a Christian, Israel is very important, read the Bible for more on this. If you are a secularist, Israel is our ally, the only democracy in the middle east, and the only ones that the Muslim nutcases hate more than us. The U.S. should support Israel for not only our own interest but for the interest of everyone worldwide who wants the Islamist defeated. I have not the time or the desire to try to get you to understand all of the issues about this subject , but , I encourage you to keep researching it.

2- It won't make the terrorism go away if we lose Israel - it would just get them out from between us and them
3- The real problem in the area is the strict Islamics thinks we are immoral and think their faith requires them to convert or kill. Go read their websites. They want to cut your throat and it really isn't about Israel in spite of the propaganda. Israel is an excuse.
4- If it comes to that we can win. We could win this if we really hit hard and everyone quit backing the poor torture victims or the press would photo the same woman over and over.

I think they ask the same kind of thing back in the late 30s. It went something like, "Why are we risking war with Hitler and Nazi Germany over a little, inconsequential country like Czechoslovakia. So, the powers that be handed it over to him. I wonder how many people were murdered and tortured to death by the Nazis or sent to the death camps simply because others thought the Czechs were of no importance.
