A can of regular coke contains the equivalent of about 13 lumps of sugar in it - bad for you.
Then again...
Diet cola contains aspartame which is a source of phenylalanine (a neurotoxin in large amounts). In some countries it also contains cyclomates which are carcinogenic. There is no firm scientific evidence that its other sweetener aspartame is carcinogenic.
Plus Coke is not healthy to people in Columbia - according to the evidence given by "Killer Coke", Paramilitary death squads operate in Coca-Cola bottling plants against trade unionists with the compliance of the managers.

I hate to chime in on a negative note, but when ever I see someone talking about any of these product I just feel obligated to say a few things about them that the general public may not be aware of. The first and probably most significant reason is, carbonated beverages with caramel color have extremely high acidity levels. As most of you know in order to keep the body healthy you have to maintain an APPROXIMATE alkaline to acid ratio of 70/30 %. Drinking either Coke or Pepsi contributes to the imbalance. The carbonation in these drinks also fights with the natural stomach acids in the digestive system and results in ineffective digestion. Scientific studies have also shown how as few as one or two soft drinks a day can increase one’s risk for numerous health problems. Some of these health problems include obesity, diabetes, tooth decay, osteoporosis, nutritional deficiencies, heart disease, and many neurological disorders Dr. Charles Best, the discoverer of insulin, claims that teenagers who consume too many soft drinks have cirrhosis of the liver similar to what chronic alcoholics have.1 There is no cure for cirrhosis of the liver except to receive a new liver through a transplant. If your still not convinced try a couple of "do it yourself tests"next time you have the opportunity; Need to remove paint from your car? Don't sand it off, just use a can of Pepsi or Coke Clogged drain that can't even be fixed with Draino? Use a Coke or Pepsi How about a toilet so grimy and disgusting even sandpaper wouldn't clean it? Try Pepsi or Coke Want to clean the corrosion off your car battery? Coke or Pepsi? Does it ever really quench your thirst? Nope. Drink a Coke or Pepsi after getting close to dehydrated state and chances are YOU WILL DIE. So as we can see there are a lot of great uses for both Coke and Pepsi, but none of them include human consumption. I've included a few other sites below for those of you that might be a little more than curious about your favorite soft drinks. Remember, Coke DOES NOT add life.

Neither is actually good for you. I think the best diet drink on the market is diet-rite because it is made with splenda and does not have any caffeine and is better than diet coke or diet pepsi. Once you start drinking it, you won't go back to the other!

The jury is kind of out on this one. Artificial sweeteners obviously contain less calories than sugar, so keeping your weight down can help you stay healthier. However, the chemicals that are used in artificial sweeteners have been proven to be extremely tough on the gums. So, pick your poison! Remember, all things in moderation.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other!
I don't have an ingredient list in front of me, but most diet drinks contain artificial sweeteners well as extra chemicals to give them the same sweetness of regular drinks, so it might be better to have the extra bit of sugar. This also happens with most salt reduced foods, they have to make it taste good somehow, but no matter which one you have, consuming too much still rots your teeth.

Coke is bad for ya anyway. Saccharin is known for cancer, and it harms fetuses in the womb, so why drink it . Then regular coke has so mcuch sweetener, so you decide.
