I get mad pretty easily and I might be laughing in a minute. When I get mad at people, sometimes I think about hurting people and then I regret thinking about that. My parents tell em I have a lot of mood changes, but I don't know if that's just because I'm 14 or not. I would never hurt someone, but I think about that. People I know always tell me I get mad easily. I know my dad has a temper, but he has never hurt me or anyone else.

You are way to young to even be considered bipolar/manic-depressive!(There is NO difference between the two, just politically correct to call it bipolar now) Sounds like good old fashioned growing pains. Just keep learning and living. You don't need any other reason to feel the way you do. What you described is just life at your age. YOU ARE NORMAL!!!

People that are bipolar have the highest highs. They may stay up for days at a time, making unrealistic plans, acing in ways they never would (sexually, lots of spending). Its like someone who is on speed.
Then the go the other direction to the lowest of the lows. They are so depressed they can't get out of bed for days at a time. They may have suicidal thoughts, or even delusions at the extreme end. A true clinical bipolar has enormous mood changes that last a few weeks.
My guess is you do not. We rarely diagnosis that in children (under 18), There is a lesser form called bipolar II.
But in my professional opinion you are a teenager, maybe one with some poor anger management skills, but nothing more. If you are worried talk to the school counselor or your DR. I would be very surprised if anyone thought you are bipolar.

I don't think so...Bipolar can be very serious. I feel the same way as you and have wondered the same thing. But I think perhaps if it is bipolar, it is a very small thing compared to the real thing. I had a friend who is bipolar, and eventually I had to get away...The issues were too much for me, because I have issues of my own I'm dealing with. Both our problems did not mix well together..hehe

But what I'm saying is; Bipolar is not as simple as just feeling good one minute and bad another. The feelings are so much deeper. The low is so low that the person may be quiet and still for periods of time, or lash out at another person for no apparent reason. The highs are said to be very high...but my friend only experienced highs I knew of when they were drinking.

And I've never had bipolar, so even I don't know that much about it...just that it's not simple or easy to understand.

From what I understand, bipolar disorder causes extreme mood swings. The anger that you mention but also when you are happy, you are euphoric. Unless you check with a doctor, I'm not sure if you have it. You need to control your temper, however, and not let every little thing bother you. Think at the time if it's important to get angry because anger hurts you most of all. The book called "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" is very true. Channel your anger into doing physical things such as some sports or even throwing a ball as hard as you can.

That doesn't sound like bipolar disorder. People with bipolar cycle much more slowly. For example, they may be depressed for weeks or months and then euphoric for weeks or months.

Teenagers have a lot of hormones going bonkers in their bodies. It's perfectly normal for you to be moody. Some teenagers are more moody than others. I don't think it's unusual to think about hurting people, if you aren't actually going to do it.

One thing that helps a lot is to find some sort of physical activity that you enjoy, and regularly participate in it to the point of utter exhaustion. It helps to regulate the hormones and really helps moodiness a lot.

Being a teenager is one of the most difficult things in the world. I'd never do it again.

I have bipolar disorder, and that doesn't sound at all like it. Sounds more like you are a teenage male with a problem controlling your temper. Though not so common, it's still normal. My brother was like this; he has had repeated mild bouts of depression, it turns out. If you find yourself wanting to hurt yourself, having moments of inexpicable sadness or emptiness, start losing interest in everyday things that you normally enjoy, or stop socializing, see a school counselor, though. Rage and mood volatility (mood swings) can easily be a disguise for depression.

Highly unlikely. Even ultradian cycling bipolar disorder (extermely rare even among bipolars) cycles in hours not seconds or minutes. Your major issue is that you are 14 and subject to the weird and wonderfol effects of hormone changes. All this will pass away, so don't worry about it.

Ask your parents if you can go see a psychiatrist, you need to be avaluated by a perfessional, no one here is qualified to make that diagnosis and it can't be done on the internet anyway.

Just so you understand the role of a phsychiatrist, he is the one that makes the diagnosis, and prescribes medication for that diagnosis, he is NOT the one you see for counceling, that a therapist, normally in treating mental illness such as this you see both a psychiatrist for med treatment and a therapist for therapy, talk therapy I mean.

I am bi-polar & have been all my life & I take medication. Just because you get mad or think of hurting people does NOT make you bi-polar. Bi-polar is THE most over diagnosed disorder there
is. You need to see a psychiotrist for proper diagnosis and it is important that you do so you KNOW what if anything your dealing with.

Better to talk to a doctor now rather than being arrested and losing $600,000 in your early 30's. I was diagnosed 15 months ago and I'm just beginning to recover what I lost slowly - one day at a time.
