Because you didn't teach your dog right? Or if your trying to get someone elses dog to sit, they aren't going to listen to you because your not their leader. I can teach a dog to go from running to a down position with a hand signal. It's not hard, it just takes time, patience, and a good connection with your animal. You have to understand here's a being that is from a completely different world with their own language and we expect an awful lot from them in a relatively short amount of time.

First of all, dogs love praise and attention. When you tell your dog to sit, at the same time push his rear end down while you say the word so he is in the sitting position. Then praise him to let the dog know that it did something good. Do this some times a day, until when you think that he's got it without your help, try without it. If succesful, then reward your dog with praise and a treat. Remember, there is nothing a dog loves more than love and attention from its owner.

Exactully. It takes hard training for a dog to learn his/hers basic commands.

Duh... they don't come preprogrammed for commands.
You have to teach them what they are supposed to do when you say that word,
And then, once they know the command, if they don't do it, you have to get out of the chair and MAKE them do - every time they ignore you and no sitting there repeating the command in the hope that doggy does it.
One command, no repsonse, correction -enforce.

buy a choke chain,we had a dog that wouldnt stop barking so we bought this collar that zapped him BIG TIME every time he barked.he hated all other dogs he used to attack trees pee in elevators,i noticed after the choke chain he respected me alot more,always walk your dog on your left side and dont be affraid to kick his a s s,lol

to make a dog obey it needs training and to train it that means repeating the commands over and over while making him do it until he learns to do it on his own.

you need to train them it only takes a couple of days if you try try and try.
