Just in the last month my 15 year old son has been wetting himself especially during the night. It was kind of weird, because before like a month ago he ever had. I was wondering whether I should buy diapers for him? If so, what kind?

Are you sure it is urine, and not semen? Diapers??If he has never done this before; i would be wondering what has happened to him!! Has he suffered any major changes; or major trauma? Has he been molested or something?...Well...it is a possibility...I'm just thinking out loud here!! You really need to take him to the doctor or a therapist ASAP!!!

Are you sure it's urine and not nocturnal ejaculation (wet dream)? If it is ejaculate it's perfectly normal to for a boy of 15 to have wet dreams, teach him how to clean himself up and launder his bedding... Don't make a big deal of it..

If it is urine he could have a urinary tract infection, he could be having some emotional stress causing him to subconsciously act out by urinating because he doesn't know how to voice his stresses and concerns... He could also have a hernia (not uncommon in teenage boys) the hernia could be pressing in a way that causes a false signal to go to his brain during the night while he sleeps signalling his brain that it's time to urinate and thus he does...

Take your son to his Dr. have some simple tests run to rule out a physical cause... If there is no physical cause your son may ned some counseling to work out emotional issues and stresses...

Make your sons bed by placing a plastic sheet on the matress, a fitted sheet then another plastic sheet followed by a fitted sheet, Place an extra fresh blanket next to your sons bed and place clean underwear and pajamas on his dresser... When he has an accident during the night he can easily strip off the top fitted sheet and the top plastic sheet revielling the fresh ones get into the clean clothes and get the clean blanket.. He will quickly be able to get back to sleep...

Teach him how to launder his dirty bedding and clothing to avoid a urine smell in his room and your house...

Do not buy diapers at 15 they would be demeaning to him.. And could potentially cause him to have emotional issues that would just exaserbate the situation...

Let him know you are there for him, make sure to discuss the possiblilty of a simple medical condition (urinary tract infection/ hernia) being the cause and that's why you want to go to his Dr. Also discuss counseling with him and let him know you only want the best for him...

He is already embarrasssed by the problem don't make it more embarrassing than it already is...

Hi there,
Have you noticed any other unusual behaviour.
Is he been bullied at school or maybe someone has abused him.
It maybe none of the above but you can't rule them out yet. That type of stress can cause bed wetting. Think about taking him to the doctors and have a loving and caring talk to him about what's going on.

This is not unusual. My brother suffered from this too. Take him to the doctor. This could be cause by many things, not because he is having wet dreams. He might be stressed out, or have a small bladder, which is common with boys. Take him in asap.

First of all there might be something really bothering him or stressing him out that could be the problem. Be open & ask him be sure to make sure that before you do you are prepaped to handle anything he will say. It also could be a urinary tract or bladder infenction. But DEPENDS is an adult diaper you might want to try

If he is actually urinating it may be do to a bladder or kidney problem, or a sleep disorder where people dream that they have gotten up to use the bathroom and end up wetting themselves. Whatever the case it might be time to set up a Dr's apt just to be sure.

Go to a medical doctor and a psychologist.

They would be the true people who could best answer this for you. I know it's upsetting, so anyone on this forum can't truly give you the right answers.

I know you're concerned, so just make him an appointment and let him go in on his own.

Good luck.
