Aaaah this is one problem that haunted be for long..

The problem occurs because Outlook Express (OE) doesnt get the confirmation from the mail server which reads "Message Dispatched"!! So OE sends the message again and again and again. Listing a few things you need to do to fix this problem.

1. After you do send-receive, the outbox should be EMPTY if it isnt then
a. Temporarily disable antivirus & firewall software and see this email goes through.
b. With OE closed, delete the outbox.dbx file and re-open OE and try sending another email.

2. If nothing works, simply re-install IE with the same or new verstion and this should get fixed, as OE is always bundled with IE (Internet Explorer). Even Repair of IE (from Add Remove Programs icon) should help fix this problem.

3. If none of this works, then there is some problem with your SMTP server and you need to check if there are any time-out settings which you are missing, causing this problem. Talk to your mail administrator.
