In the journey toward inner peace, balance between one's Yin and Yang, Feng Shui and the like, Red is the last color I would expect to drape sacred sites. Anyone have any insight?

sorry i am not Buddhist but
red is the colour of nobility and royalty and was used alot in the earlier days by people of a noble status
thus the colour was used in many churches and temples
however it is also known to be the colour of passion and for this reason was taken from a lot of western religions

red is also the colour for the base chakra so is used in a lot of grounding work during meditation etc .. unsure if this is related in the culture

Red is thought to help with the mental, alter perception and help in meditation. It is also the color of the element fire.
