I was just wondering if anybody knew of a place where it had tattoo artist reviews. I've had a few done but they were by people who I know have done good work. I want to get some more work done but I hear bad stories about the local places. So I'd like to do some research before going there for a design. So, if you know of any websites, let me know.

And if it makes a difference, I'm located in Richmond VA and I'm looking to get some traditional Japanese type tattoos done.

Having done a bit of research on this very subject recently I found Yahoo Local to actually be of great help. Type in Tattoo and you'll not only get locations of shops near you but customer reviews as well. A web search is another way to go by typing in Tattoo Parlor/Tattoo Artist Virginia and then viewing pics on artists web sites. I'm a little shaky on the name but you might want to do a search on Maryland as well because their is some world class talent to be found there as well.

As a side note, I lived in the Tidewater area for ten years during and after my stint in the Navy. This of course exposed me to LOTS of tats from around the world and, believe it or not, Ancient Art tattoos from good old VA had some of the finest to be found. In fact they are(or were though I'm not current)the official tattoo designers for Easy Rider magazine, their flash used on the tat design T-shirts marketed by that publication. Hard to argue with that kind of rep!

Stay away from it. I always tell people, if they are going to add a substance, make sure it's a straight medicine. God forbid you have a reaction, you wont know if it's a healing infection or a reaction to the balm. If you are serious about getting this stuff, Put some on your arm for a day and if it doesn't react negatively, then put it over the tattoo

I know that here where I live there are no licensed tattoo artist. you have to go to a different county. My friend got his at outbank, I got my belly button pierced at the same place. I did not suffer as much as my friend being tattooed!!

I do know that BMEzine.com does do some reviews at times but it can also open you up to different links. It will also show and teach more about new things going on show how they are done.

My artist is really good. Unfortunately he is located in southern oregon, but he does have a huge flash gallery, and client gallery. Go to http://www.medicalbodyart.org and take a look around you might find something you like... I believe he might even have links to places in VA... seems like I saw that on the sight.

I recommend joining a tattoo community, a place you can browse tattoos for the one you want and also talk to other members and share advice and experiences. Try this one http://tinyurl.com/tattoo-community.
