Here's a quote on the subject from Thich Nhat Hanh:
"In Buddhism, the source of our energy is faith in our daily practice. Faith in an idea is too risky. Ideas can change, even ideas about the Buddha. Tomorrow, we may not believe the same thing and we may fall into the abyss of doubt. We know very well that our daily practice of mindful living has brought us joy and peace, so we have faith and confidence in our practice."

For me it is the practice... since I am a Buddhist.

Was there anything else to the quote? I was wondering in what context TNH was speaking from. "Faith" in Buddhism is not "blind following" but confidence gained from direct experience. The term is "saddha" or "sradha. " (source: http://www.palikanon.com/english/wtb/s_t/saddhaa.htm)

A Buddhist is said to have faith if "he believes in the Perfect One's (the Buddha's) Enlightenment" (M 53; A.V, 2), or in the Three Jewels (s. ti-ratana), by taking his refuge in them (s. ti-sarana). His faith, however, should be "reasoned and rooted in understanding" (ākāravatā saddhā dassanamūlika; M. 47), and he is asked to investigate and test the object of his faith (M. 47, 95).

Mine teaches me to practice my ideas, because otherwise the ideas are a lot of hot air.
