G-d's not married :)
EDIT
oh, please. jeremiah is telling a parable - giving an analogy.
They say, "If a man divorces his wife, and she goes from him and becomes another man's, may he return to her again?" Would not that land be greatly polluted? But you have played the harlot with many lovers; "Yet return to Me," says the Lord. (Jeremiah 3:1)
G-d says it himself - if israel stops worshipping idols, and returns to him, they are once again bonded with G-d. in case you haven't noticed, jews are no longer worshipping idols.
you can read a good explanation of this verse from jeremiah here: http://www.outreachjudaism.org/jeremiah31.html
EDIT
yes, they are written, and they have a meaning. just because christians want to interpret into the meaning that G-d has permanently divorced israel, despite the fact that it says clearly SEVERAL TIMES IN THE SAME CHAPTERS that G-d has not, thats just because they are desperate to find anything in the hebrew bible to confirm their religion, even when validation of their religion in our bible is absent. if G-d had divorced israel, why did he send over a dozen more prophets to us? why did jeremiah tell israel that G-d wanted them to come back to him, simply by proclaiming "G-d is my master?" why does jeremiah say: "Return, O backsliding children," says the Lord, "for I am married to you." (Jeremiah 3:14)
in the torah, why did G-d say that his covenant with israel would be an everlasting one, if he was just going to break it a few centuries later? did G-d lie? doesn't G-d say in deuteronomy and in numbers, "I am not man, that i should lie?"
its just a ludicrous argument put up by people who believe in a lying god. i'll pass on their god. i have a loyal one that i like much better.

Should get better in the verses but glad you got it.. Not divorce He turned away for "a moment" (long time of you ask me, We had this tiffy and She took our side cause she knows we will not stay with that darn devil all the time and turn back yo Her Son...)..From Holy Spirit which/who is Mother God. This is representive of what is happening to us .. We are "seperate" from our Love, cause He is chained in our hearts, the Son or the Beloved..
As above so below..]]
She is gonna Love us untill we find (So is He so is the Father) Him back and can be one with the Father again...
Love

The nation of Israel was considered to be the bride of God. That is why God called idol worship adultery. Israel and God were divorced when Israel rejected Christ and had him put to death. Til' death do you part
