GO HERE: http://www.gdca.org/

That is the National Breed Club for Great Danes affiliatedwith the AKC.

They have a breeders list. These are breeders who agree to abide by a Code of Ethics; do all the helath examsn on their dogs before breeding to amek sure they are free of hereditary medical problems; give guarantees about hips etc; stand behind their puppies; and have been involved with their breed for years.

Even two Westminster winners produce a litter that is always have or more of puppies who have some tiny little flaw that would put them out of competition in the show ring. Still healthy and strong puppies.

I found 2in Oklahoma on the list.

Ask a breeder if they are a member of the GDCA - if they aren't, they are not serious or reliable or bound by the Code of Ethics so AVOID!!

The Club has Great Dane rescues - think about adopting a dane. Check with the rescue closest to you-there may be dogs in your state or nearby.

You can check out Petfinder which will list danes in shelters and in rescue. If health is a huge concern for you then you can check out the national breed club to find local clubs. Through these resources you may find a dane that a breeder wanted to keep to show but may not have turned out so they will spay or neuter it before placing in a pet home. However even then depending on your definition of cheap they may not be cheap but will be healthy and well bred.
