Name him Rocky and make up a sandwich style sign that goes over his back and reads "I want to be your stud!" Take him for lots of walks in dog parks and on city streets. You could also make up a T-shirt for yourself that says on it "I am Rocky's pimp!" You and he will become famous and lots of people will hire him.
It's called marketing.

If you purchased this pet from a breeder go to them with this question.
People really get uptight when you start talking about "breeders... backyard breeders or otherwise" just continue your search and look thru those pet forums, they will be really helpful in your search for specific questions like this one.
EVERY breeder out there had to start somewhere NOBODY just knows everything there is to know about any dog breed without doing alot of research or having personally experience and even then we all need to continue to learn all there is to know about our breed of dog. I do agree with the statement earlier that you shouldn't expect to be a responsible breeder and make a huge profit.
Maybe consider having the dog for a year or so before you make a definite decision about breeding... I have a Pug and let me tell you she is almost 2 and I never even considered breeding her as I dont have her to make a profit, I done the responsible thing and got her spayed for her own well being. I also want to say that I did not pay a dime for her, she was a gift. I dont agree with paying thousands of dollars for a pet, but that's just my personal opinion.
Anyway, good luck with your search and please be responsible :)

NEVER!!!!
Unless he is an AKC Champion or well on his way, he is a PET quality dog.
And the odds are you don't have an AKC registration on him.
There are a few thousand Yorkies and Yorkies bred to something or other to produce a mutt in DESPERATE Need of homes. Go take a look at the http://www.ytca.org/ - breed club and talk to the members in charge of rescue.
His stud fee without AKC titles - not papers but TITLES - is maybe $25 on a good day to someone who is breeding in their backyard to produce more mediocre or poor quality puppies.
Going to pay for all the health exams to screen him for hereditary health problems in the breed?? Only about $200 - 300 per exam and there are about 4 test minimum/
No legitimate breeder will have anything to do with breeding to him without tha AKC Chanpionship and health exams.. Maybe the odd backyard 1 litter person once or twice a year.
Neuter him and enjoy him as a pet
HUSKYMOM sounds like a redneck trailer trash -
Some states are considering laws to make the breeders of homeless aminals responsible for them - that would be great. They woukd have to register the litters with the state or city , put in microchips (go to jail if they don''t and anyone buying a dog tag has to produce the microchip ID) and if the dog turns up at a shelter, WHAM -the owners of the sire and dam foot the bill for caring for him forever. What a great thing that would be!

Why would you want to do that. If you just got him from someplace, I doubt he a champion or had any health clearances. Just because a dog is purebred, doesn't mean it should be bred. Most dogs should not.
Listen to Huskymom....she knows the deal on Backyard Breeders and probably has some friends that have a crappy female Yorki that you can breed to!!!!!!!!!!!
That is what you get to breed to when you breed your pet for profit!!!!!!!!!!!! Also known as "Garbage In---Garbage Out" breeding.
And gee Huskymom, I can assure you that even at $2000 per puppy and 4 sold....I made ZERO profit on my last litter. That IS what seperates the good from the bad!! You bred your pet crap and probably bought a few cartons of Pall Malls and some Keystone for you and the hubby. I imported a pup, paid a huge handling balance, and sent out another dog. Before even adding up the expenses for rearing the litter...I am behind the 8 ball by $650. That is what GOOD breeders do, put any money BACK into the dogs and the breeding program.
And I guess you'd be lucky to get the Pall Malls after getting rid of your "suprise" litter!!!!!!!!!

First he needs to be a prime speciman of the breed to even consider breeding him. Since you adopted him, do you have AKC papers? If not, then get him neutered. If so, then show him and get conformation titles on him. Be aware, when you breed, if done properly you will not make money, and will probably lose money. Eyes should be checked for PRA and any other recessive genetic defects in Yorkies should be tested for. You should be willing to help pay the bills on the puppies (first set of shots, etc) the owner of the female should not pay for all the puppies needs alone. If you are not willing to be a responsible breeder then get your dog fixed, otherwise, you are essentially killing many homeless puppies each time you breed.

I'm worried about the place you adopted him from. Any reputable rescue will neuter a dog before placing him. So if they were not reputable enough to do that, then they probably didn't get him a complete check up.

How old is he? If he is under a year, he is not old enough. If your looking to offer him as a stud, then either post in you local newspaper, or check out the various dog magazines which have local breeders in them and post an add in there.

Ignore Torbaynew. He is just too self righteous(look it is spelled right!)and judgemental to see how rude he comes across to others. Guess that happens when you are a "backyard breeder". It is your dog and your right to offer it as a stud if you want. I have seen many ads in large city papers that offer dogs for stud service. The people will probably want to see the dog, review its pedigree, shot records, medical (health) records and such before they make a decision.
Aw, don't worry about the "experts" on here. You can't tell me that they breed their perfect large breed dogs for absolutely no profit. Oh, yeah, they get a profit or they wouldn't do it. That is my definition of a backyard breeder. Not people like you, me, or any of the number of people I know that breed dogs. There are tons of people who want small dogs like yours could produce. That is why those small dogs are so "hot" right now. Yeah, listen to me, I will agree with him on that one. Do what YOU want to do. These people on here don't live your life or pay your bills. You will never meet them, so you don't have to listen to their judgement. Better yet, get a female of the same breed and breed them yourself.
As long as people are continuing to buy these dogs, there is a market for them. Why not be a part of it as long as it is there? It is your right.
And what are Pall Malls and Keystone? Is that some redneck thing?
