Hi Debra...chicken is fine for cats so long as it wasn't cooked with onions, garlic and salt. Even rinsed these ingredients cannot be washed away since it is cooked into the meat. Each of these ingredients can cause anemia in cats and salt (in large amounts) upsets the balance of the electrolytes. Here's an article on ingredients to avoid feeding cats: http://www.peteducation.com:80/article.cfm?cls=0&cat=1276&articleid=1029
Boiled chicken is a wonderful and healthy treat to give cats and any vet can confirm this fact as well.
EDIT: Cats require essential vitamins and taurine that are in cat foods which the chicken only diet will lack so it must be a supplemental treat rather than the main staple.

Are you talking about a sliver three or four times a day? Or a substantial amount? The cooked chicken is lacking in taurine, an essential amino acid which is put in all commercial cat food. So as long as he is eating his cat food and that is the bulk of his diet he should be OK. I think it's a lot healthier treat than much that is sold in pet stores.

As long as it is fresh and cooked thoroughly, (but not over cooked and definitely not processed), a small amount of chicken is okay as a treat only. My two boys get a little almost every night, (I almost live on chicken - I'm about to start clucking - LOL!).

yes as long as it is cooked. If you read the ingrediant label on your cat food that contains chicken they use chicken by products which is to say all the junk left over so yes chicken is very good for your cat.

You won't hurt him, he's 13 already, so it must be good with him. Just don't let him have the bones! Baby likes melon, and chicken, and beef...but he'll hurt you to get melon!
