Puppies shouldn't be taken from their moms until at least 8 weeks and I personally prefer 10 or 12 if possible. Even tho they can survive without mom's milk at 5-6 weeks, there is so much they still learn from mom about manners and such that it's very beneficial to stay with mom a little longer beyond weaning.

No reputable breeder will allow their puppies to go before 8 weeks, as they know how important this time is with mom.

I think you should get a puppy somewhere around the age of 2-3. because It should be old enough to eat by it self and house trained. But as for your cat, you should NOT force the cat and puppy to meet ...let them meet on there own terms. They may not like each other but if they do more points to you.

Pups can be separated from their mother at the age of 2 months, it's wrong to sell a puppy that is younger than that because it still needs his/her mother.

Puppies should be separated from their mother the earliest at 2 months old and when they have already had shots.

2 months is the youngest you should get a puppy, any younger need to be with their mom and litter mates. If you get a slightly older puppy (4-6 months) they are aware of their bladder and can hold it longer, making them easier to housetrain.

If you get one a little older it may have been trained in some ways and thats a real big help -you wont make the cat jealous spending too much time training your pup

They have to be 8 weeks (2+ months) or older to leave their mother. Any younger could be a problem.

THE PUPPY SHOULD BE 6 WEEKS TO TWO MONTHS OLD AND ITS STILL GONNA CRY UNTIL IT GETS USE TO BEING ALONE. YOU CAN PUT A STUFFED SOCK IN ITS BED TO CUDDLE UP TO THAT WILL HELP IT AND SOME TIMES A WIND UP CLOCK IN THEIR BED KEEPS THEM QUIET. IF YOU WANT A LOYAL DOG GET A JACK RUSSELL TERRIER. THEY ARE VERY ACTIVE UNHTIL THEY GET TO BE ABOUT A YEAR OLD THEN THEY MAKE A VERY GOOD PET AND THEY ARE VERY SMART.

6 to 8 weeks! If you get them sooner they will be harder to potty train and it will be harder to let them know who is their master. Anyone who comes around him/her he/she will listen to. It will be harder to teach him/her tobe the protector. If you get them any older and they have not yet been trained you can end-up with similiar problems except protection. They can become unprotective or too protective. At 6 to 8 weeks they are just becoming weened from their mothers and will be able to learn easier that they now have another protector/care taker.
