Oh, and btw, I am a GROOMER, so yeah, I KNOW the requirements, I groom them all the time. As much time as it takes to groom them, I think they're amazing, not the friendliest, but they're really patient. I've just wanted one all my life, I was thinking of possibly rescuing an adult. Pups are not an option. If it's a mix, I don't mind, I just looooove the LONG hair! ;-)

You are in NY, there must be a gazillion Afgan Hound breeders around you.
Go to a show, a gazillion of those there as well.
A couple friends breed Afghans, and I show them sometimes as well. Do you know their care requirements and personalities? NOT an easy breed to live with, although I love them.
Why don't you ask your clients where they got theirs? Many breeders rehome their finished CHs as well as older ones that didn't turn out as hoped.
If I had an Afghan, I'd probably end up buzzing her down, I just hate grooming. My last hairy dog is now 11, I like the wash and wear dogs. But there is nothing more beautiful than an Afghan (or 3) in full coat!

Why don't you see if there are any good rescues in your ares? Rescue dogs are cheaper.
