For our wedding our colors are black and white with the accent of blue. So basically our table cloths and napkins will be balck and white (not sure which will be which). So for our center piece we want to include blue. What do you think would be a good center piece? We were originally going to have a beach theme and I think we still want to have that a bit.

Try a water fall, the florist can help you out on this.

We had a beach theme at our wedding, and we had two types of centerpieces (one type at some tables, the other type at the other tables). Our colors were blues and purples, so some tables had floral centerpieces in those colors. The other centerpieces were hurricane lamps with some sand in the bottom and a pillar candle in the center, surrounded by seashells, starfish, and sand-dollars. You could do something like that - use a blue candle, or add in blue marbles or glass pieces.

Blue sea glass is very pretty - it would look nice scattered on the table with some tall candles in the center.

I know you didn't ask about the tablecloths and napkins, but I would go with white tablecloths and black napkins - black tends to fade easily, so if you used it for the tablecloths, it might not look very good. If you can see them all ahead of time, and you know they're not faded, black could be very dramatic, though. Just a thought! :o)

Congratulations!

On the fish bowl idea, Get some silica sand, and hydrate it with blue tinted water. Silica is available in most florist supply stores and Craft shops. The blue tint will have to be quite dark tho as it dilutes easily.
Now get some small fish bowls from the local dollar store.
Place a bit of sand in each bowl
Fill the bowls 3/4 of the way full with the gel
Add fish tank items like a castle in one , a treasure chest in another to each of the bowls. You can also get little plastic fish to put into the bowls to look like they are swimming around.
Place a top of clear cling wrap on top of the "water" to prevent guests from spilling them all over. Grinz
This idea should not cost you more than $10.00 per center piece.
Or
Alstromeria comes in a really pretty shade of blue, and mixed with a bit of baby's breath would make a lovely centerpiece,,,especially if you can find some nice black vases.
Just remember to give the baby's breath a drink of 10 bleach solution before you use it..or it stinks to the sky.
Good Luck

Candels are really nice, and relatively inexpensive. Also vases filled with colored water and rocks can be tasteful and will go with the beach theme. Even add some floating candles to go with a romantic feel.

the fish idea is good
OR you can also get a fish bowl put blue sand, black and white rocks[just a tiny bit of those fish rocks], and some sea shells
p.s. buy LITTLE fish bowls OR you could get those light covers that look like fish bowls

you wouldnt want to buy ALL those fish because after where would you put em?? you cant keep those fish in the same tank because they will kill each other

how about using individual cakes on pedestals instead of one large, expensive cake? You could have the cakes decorated with a ring of blue ribbon at the base, or you could put them on blue pedestals, or you could have the cakes decorated with blue flowers--or, if you want to stick with the beach theme (and it sounds as though you think you'd like to), you could have the cakes decorated with shells, mini-surfers, or whatever--most bakeries have tons of decorative items from which to choose. Enjoy the moment!
