I got a really bad perm about 1 month ago. It broke off patches of my hair right at the root. They have been giving me deep conditioning treatments for 4 weeks not, but my hair is still falling out about 50X more than usally. My questions.
What else can be done or what products can I use to stop the hair from breaking and falling out?
Also, the hair that is growing back is about 3/4 of an inch and it sticking straight up. The salon said I should not use gels and stuff to hold it down due to the damage. Any suggestion to stop the spiking hair?

I am 25yo and my hair is really dry. I have been using a Aveda shampoo and condition that the salon gave me. It smells horrible, but they said it was good. I also have Nexxus reconstuctor Conditioner and Sun Silk pink conditioning treatment.

I suggest you go to a different salon because clearly they have no clue what they're doing.

Something similar happened to me a few years ago, I eventually got it all cut off, try and wait until you have at least 2" of growth before carrying this out, I now have shoulder length hair and instead of perming it I use rollers to achieve curls when I want them and keep it straight when I don't

Sorry but if your is that badly fried it will be best option for your hair,

However you should try to sue the salon or go to another salon for another consultation

Yup sorry to hear that...It happened to me back in the day - broke right at the root where the roller hit my scalp - I had a patch of good hair then nothing alternating all the way around my head it felt like a military buzz cut in the broken areas. It was nasty during the grow out stage and ultimately I ended up cutting it all very very short in order to start all over again - NEVER PERM YOUR HAIR AGAIN.

OK what u have to do is stop wearing the ponytail because it is hurting the roots of ur hair by pulling and it also depends on how tight ur ponytail is. just wear ur hair out for awhile or a loose ponytail. grease the part of hair that is breaking off before u put a perm in it. follow up with deep conditioners by putting a shower cap on it to trap in heat. by doing this it will help the damage hair . use V05 and TLC hair product line

Been there, had that . . . they had mistakenly refilled the neutralizer bottle with more perm lotion.
And once the hair is fried, that is all she wrote. They gave me every expensive conditioner they had but nothing can reverse fried. Only the new stuff growing out will be OK, and it does come in straight up, but that is temp until it gets longer again.
You have my total sympathy. Think of Natalie Portman, she did bald for a movie !

I would take vitiames this will help with hair growth also look into natural stuff like oils for dry ends and hair mask. use cooler water to wash instead of hot hot water. as far as the growing out faze try and wear a cover or something instead of hair products.

Personally your hair is under lots of stress ....you already know that.....but what to do.....hrmmm.....well the chemincal alcopecia that has started due to the chemical is already in process....not sure if this is what you would like but have you given some thought to a wig.....just to allow your hair to grow and not worry about the spikes....hair is like air if we have enough no one worries but when we loose it we freak....ive had to shave my head on many occasions because people have done a OPPS....a setting lotion might help the spiking.....and maybe aid in your scalp healing itself......

IS YOUR HAIR MUSHY OR DRY. IT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE.. IF YOUR HAIR IS MUSHY YOU NEED PROTEIN. IF DRY MOISTURE.
WELLA RE CONSTRUCTOR IS A GREAT LEAVE IN PROTEIN. AND FOR MOISTURE, YOU COULD USE ANY DEEP MOISTURE MASK..
CAN'T DO MUCH WITH THE BROKEN STUFF.
HOW OLD ARE YOU? IF YOU ARE OVER 18 YOU COULD TAKE PRENATAL VITIM INS AND IT WILL HELP GROW FASTER AND THE VITAMINS ARE SAFE AND HEALTHY
GOOD LUCK
