OK so when i bought my 2 budgies the lady that sold them to me asked me what colors i wanted them to be i said yellow she then said the solid yellow i said sure ,then she said this is the male then she said and the other i said blue and then she said this is the female but i've heard from people that you cant tell a lutino's sex because they all have a pink cere is this true.I dont know if this lady knew anything about birds but she was selling alot of them she had about 70 to sell.So im not sure if she bought them and then resold them or if she actually bred budgies.

Yeah people who work at pet shops will tell a customer anything if it will make the customer buy something. I have around 40-50 budgies and out of all of them only one is a lutino. He is a male the only reason i know this is because he was a father to babies. The colour of their cere isnt the only way you can tell females apart from males. The skull shape of females is different to males. Go to your local pet shop or produce place and ask them to show you how to tell the sex of your budgie by the shape of their head. If they are experienced enough they will be able to show you. Hope this helps.

i have 3 lutinos that i hand raised and they are about 8 years old now. They still have pink ceres and i have no idea which are males and females.
It think the male will have a slightly wider head. The male will also sing more often.

If the cere is dark blue it is a male, if the cere is light blue, red, pink, or reddish brown it's a female. Sometimes males are rounder than females. Females are more agressive and bite hard. And females lay eggs.
