I really want contacts. I can't see far distances without wearing glasses. Can contacts ruin your eyes? I really want to get some, but I don't want to if they do.

I've been wearing them since I was fouteen without any ill effects. Actually the contact lense perscription is slightly weaker then my glasses perscription for me. I use day and night lenses meaning that I can sleep in them and only need to take them out once a week. It's amazing, I have periferal vision again and nothing beat waking up and being able to see! I really recommend going for it, as long as they're soft contacts there's very little risk. Har contacts on the other hand can be riskier, my mother wore them and now her eyes wont tolerate any type of lense and my bother cut his eye on them.

I've had contacts for years, with no problems. I'd recommend getting soft contact lenses as they may be more comfortable and easier to get used to than hard lenses. It'd be best to ask an optometrist what's best for you.

I was a bit skeptical about wearing contact myself. I had asked my doctor if they were safe to wear. He said that they are ok to wear. They are safe.

Usually if you leave them in too long, they can collect protien deposits which can scratch your cornea. Also, you should take them off occasionally to allow air to circulate over the cornea.
