food is really expensive and the healthier food is usually even more pricey
So, instead of unhealthy ramen noodles, microwave dinners and pizza.
what are some things that I can purchase that would be both health conscious and wallet friendly picks

try yogurt usually 10 for 5 dollars or less and they have so much nutritious yogurt now adays and try purchasing salad in a bag and ur favorite dressing when on sale and try when getting pizza make it a white pizza with spinach or broccoli on whole wheat crust if they do that try whole wheat pasta like angel hair and vegetable tomato sauce from ragu or pregro
try progresso carb concious soups their really good
cheerios always on sale i have tons usually at acme or shoprite on sale like 10 for 10 or so its always a good choice
or buy cheese and deli meats like lean turkey ham or chicken

Start with whole grains . . .
You can get a 25 pound bag of Lundbergh farms organic brown rice for about $20. Or you can buy it in a health food store by the pound. I like to mix short grain brown rice and the long grain basmati rice equally, and then mix the rice with oat groats in equal measures.
Say you get 10 pounds short grain brown rice, 10 pounds brown basmati rice, and 20 pound oat groats, it might cost you $40 to $80 depending on the store, and will last 6 months to a year with daily consumption.
You can get a rice cooker to make cooking easy.
Fruits and Vegetables - costco has some cheap prices on a lot of produce. Another option is to look for a local farmer's market. Also there are some coops that you can join. If you get a part-time job at a health food store that sells organic produce, sometimes they give you very good deals (sometimes free).
Milk Products - costco again.
Meat and beans - bulk beans are usually a great bargain - lentils, black beans, red beans, kidney beans, pinto beans, etc. Meat is pricey - if you live by hunters, you might find some ways to trade for moose, elk, or deer. If you live by fisherman - salmon, trout, or other fish.
Oils - olive oil from costco . . $20 might last you 6 months to a year.
Herbs and spices . . .again, costco has some good deals

Yes healthier food is usually more expensive, but really worth it.
Your life literally depends on it. I say learn to cook and buy healthy foods, find ones that are cheapest, and go from there. Check out this site about why you should stay away from chemicals, preservatives and additives.

Vegetables are much cheaper than meat is, also try rice and pasta as these fill you up a lot and don't cost a lot (plus can be great way to fill in the carbs)

try veggies and stir fry sauces or soy sauce I lost like 20 lbs on this and it actually tastes good! In my opinion anything of Asian origin is pretty healthy.
