The only pet I was allowed to have as a chid was sea monkeys. Last week someone told me that they are really just sea lice. I am so sad to find this out. I hope when all you dog lovers have to pick up after your dogs...that you appreciate how lucky you are.

How many people can say they had sea monkies growing up? not me....I've seen them in pictures and would LOVE to have some, sea lice? OK, at least you had a pet of some sort, not everyone gets that chance.

I feel bad for you, after all those little sea monkey packages lie. They show cute little monkeys on the package and its nothing but sea lice. Sad,sad....you should of done what I did as a kid. I found a cat and brought it home weather my parents liked it or not! I had that cat for 6 years.

No. FYI, some people aren't allowed or can't afford even sea monkeys...try to look at the positive side of things.

Also, I'm actually proud of your parents for insisting that you be a responsible adult before they allowed you to have a pet.

They are not sea lice. Sea-Monkeys® are a unique species of brine shrimp, known by the scientific name of Artemia NYOS. So you did have some sort of pet.

Is this a pity party? Be glad that you were allowed to have sea monkey's a lot of kids are not allowed to even have a stuffed animal.

I appreciate and realize how lucky I am to have 3 wonderful pets. And I am sure you will have one someday as well. I did not have my first pet until I was about 20 years old.

Try sponsering a child from World Vision. This gives many people a sense of satisfaction because they are helping a needy child and you can see their progress from the letters and pictures that they send you.

Brine Shrimp. Pretty cool little critters. I had a batch as an adult, caught fresh from San Francisco Bay. You could have had it worse. Could have had an ant farm.
