An 11-year-old boy has been arrested in New Brunswick and charged with selling cocaine and heroin.
New Brunswick police Sgt. Richard Rowe said the boy and two teens were arrested Tuesday night carrying 234 bags of heroin and 111 bags of cocaine with an estimated street value of $3,450.
Officials said the 11-year-old was released to the care of his relatives and the teenagers were put in juvenile detention. None of their names were released because they were minors.
"We have seen an increase in juveniles that are involved with the selling of drugs, whether you attribute it to gangs or just juveniles not being supervised properly," Ralph Cretella, assistant prosecutor in Middlesex County's juvenile unit, told The Star-Ledger of Newark for Friday's newspapers
