There are so many different religions because God/the Divine in general is not something we can see/hear/taste/touch, and the Divine is an infinite mystery of which we can only uncover little bits at a time. Therefore, different thinkers and scholars have uncovered different bits of that Truth, or see it from a different viewpoint, and these different ways of viewing the divine are what we call the different religions.

ok.. Let me share something here. There is always a change in religions when people manipulate it too much. For eg : Hinduism is a vast religion in East Asia, Sikhism was born from Hindus. Sikhs worship 10 Mortal Gurus and 11th immortal Guru (Holybook Guru Granth Sahib). All the mortal Gurus were born hindus. But since Hinduism by that time was manipulated by Priests making caste system, racism, and differences among communities as part of their religion, a new religion came in picture i.e. Sikhism. God has no religion. just respect the faith and humanity. Do not follow the things that do not sound rational to you. Above all religion is all about belief, if your belief is shaken, then it doesnt matter which religion you follow, you will find flaws in it. Every religion has things in it that dont make sense no more, because religion is man made. Man made things always have drawbacks and consequences. And Muslims, lol, what about killings in the name of allah?.. the whole world sleeps in terror for their beliefs. Religion should be... PEACE..

Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are all Abrahamic religions, having their basis in the same monotheistic mythology. Hinduism is quite different. Confucianism is more of a philosophy. Only Christianity believes in Jesus as divine... hence Christianity. Jesus doesn't actually appear in any other religions except as a prophet in Islam.

Not everyone see's him/it/whatever as the same god. People see different historical figures as holy, and different things as okay or 'sinful'.
Then again, not everyone in the world believes in only one god. Actually, a majority of the world believes in more. There is also the concept of reincarnation, which Christianity doesn't accept in the least.
The truth is, however SIMILAR they may be, they are nowhere near being the same. And even if they were, I would bet that none of their followers would admit to it. And outside those "Christian-like" faiths, there are hundreds more that are nothing alike at all.
It just isn't practical to expect one single religion to please the 6 billion people that live on this earth.

Hinduism, Confucianism, and Judaism are, of course, not connected to Christianity at all. However, you are correct that there are many other denominations -- flavors of christianity out there. Mostly they are offshoots of older churches, usually formed as a result of a split in the church, or out of necessity when the established church refuses to allow certain people to join.

As they say "it is all in the details". Scholars have different interpretations of the Holy Book and thus different schools of thought, that evolute into separate religions. There are many people, Moslems for instance, who believe in Christ, but only as a man sent by God, not God or the Son of God himself.

Because every culture came up with its own answers to the riddle of the meaning of life. I can't help but feel that there's biological/neurological basis for religion; i.e., people have an innate need to "believe" something. In a sense, yes, we all worship the same god - the god that has been created by our minds.

I'm sorry, but no, we do not worship the "same" God. Jesus said, if you have not the son, you have not the Father. Anyone who is praying to a God other than the God of the bible, and through His son Jesus Christ, who died on a cross, rose again, and is the only name under heaven by which anyone might be saved.....is praying to a false god.

It may be because of culture. tradition, or politics. The Church of England is a good example.
The same happens in Islam; there are two main groups of Muslims who have fought each other all through history.
