What do you think of this video ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-KWAwDJox4

Does this mean that all christians are evil because hitler was christian ? By your logic, that would seem to be the case.

I wonder what excuses i will get..... oh he wasn't a real christian and such like.

Please watch the video before answering, although most of course won't.

Brett, Thank you for sharing this as you have opened my eyes to Hitler being another wolf in sheep's clothing.

But what you fail to realize here is that even if someone says the prayers, does all the motions, etc, attends all the churches and says the right words, and even is best friends with the Pope himself, it does NOT mean that they are a Christian. They may be on the surface, but they don't understand that the heart relationship needs to be there. That heart relationship has to be there in order to get into heaven. Not how many "Hail Marys" or how many times you attend church.

Hitler obviously never read a Bible and in many Catholic churches, a parishioner was expected to rely on the Priest to interpret God's word for them. I seriously doubt that if Hitler truly wanted to LISTEN to what God has to say, he would have turned out this way.

You can find a lot of people who claim to hear God and really don't have a clue about what Christianity is. It's a relationship, not the motions.

So, in my mind, even though Hitler did all the things that a good "religious" person is expected to do, he was NOT a Christian.

But I will agree with you that he was not an atheist. Thanks for correcting that fallacy for me.

Hitler was really into the occult. It is all through the Nazi symbols and rituals. There is a really good History Channel show about it. I don't see that he was either an Atheist or Christian.

My beef is when things are done because of religion. The crusades are an example and the current terrorism is another. Many wars have this at the base, but certainly not all. WWII is not a good example of a war about religion per say. It was much more that the Nazis had a problem with anyone who wasn't Aryan so it was more racial.

Hitler didn't believe in any particular religion-he just was convinced there was an Aryan race and he was one of them
He made a deal with the Pope that said basically, he'd leave them alone if they returned the favor; the pope that signed that article was going to recant but he suddenly died, no autopsy was performed
the Germans were into astrology and with it, psychics, he had a personal psychic but when he started getting really famous, his psychic was killed, either the UK or US dropped false astrology predictions saying that Germany would fail the next battle, it was meant for Hitler b/c the UK & US thought he was into astrology BUT, it turned out he wasn't phased b/c he didn't buy into it but the army did so their morale was low and, ta-da, they lost the next battle.
However, Hitler was not a firm believer in anything other than Aryan descendants were good and the Jewish were a primitive race that was bad. So, he used astrology and psychics as mush as Catholics so no one can really say he's evidence that some particular religion is evil
However (again) if God is loving and omniscient, he knew about Hitler and did nothing about it?

I am not here to Judge another man's walk in life. He can only answer for the horrific things he has commited. I can't answer what he claimed to be or not to be, but you can tell a CHRISTian by the way they live and keep in mind we are all human and not at all perfect.

But in fact, Germany was Hitler's religion. Though far from an atheist, Hitler was a Roman Catholic apostate. He at times would say things such as, "The National Socialist State professes its allegiance to Positive Christianity" [1934] — Positive Christianity being nonsectarian — and at other times would say, "National Socialism and Christianity cannot exist together" [1941]. It is certainly reasonable to suppose that Hitler used religion as Machiavelli recommended: as a tool of political influence and control. Therefore, Hitler would say about churches, "For their interests cannot fail to coincide with ours alike in our fight against the degeneracy in the world of today" (sometime 1922-1939).

The Nazi slogan
Gott mit uns or "God with us"

But taken in chronological context, it would seem that Hitler's most anti-Christian statements were delivered after his election as Chancellor, and when he saw interference from the Roman Church (and all religion) as a threat to his control of the state. The appearance of piety was important: the Nazi military wore belt buckles on which was the legend Gott Mit Uns ("God with us"), and much of his political philosophy was adapted from the Bible. Hitler would not have been successful without the support of German Christians. However, Adolf Hitler perpetrated a serious Catholic sin when he committed suicide on April 30, 1945.

that's an incredibly simple and tautological world of logic you live in.

1-the argument that Atheism is evil doesnt go: hitler was atheist, therefore atheism is evil - since it was actually evil long before Hitler was around.

2-This is actually the argument Christians are give by atheists, like yourself, in reverse: Hitler was Christian therefore Christianity fosters homicidal maniacs - and saying he wasn't a good Christian even he proclaimed to be doesn't mean anything at all; because he was Christian, and homicidal, and chancellor of germany, therefore the hollocaust was a Christian massacre.

3-in spite the fact that he killed 6 million catholics; and the fact that killing is sort of like a sin according to Christian ethics; as is hubris, arrogance, greed for power and 'such like' that Hitler demonstrated.

Okay, I watched the entire video. I admit that I had a hard time not laughing at the most obvious thing missed and the far reaching grasps to make him some kind of "Common Christian."

MANY lunatics have hid behind the veil of pretending religiosity to achieve horrid goals....Osama Bin Laden, Jim Jones, David Koresh...the list is endless.

He was simply a lunatic that used the common religion he knew his people accepted. Since mass murder of unarmed innocents (Jews) is obviously not a part of Christianity, do you really believe he was adherent to this faith?

I carefully looked at all of the religious personnel....all were Catholic. Hitler knew he had to play politics with the Pope to get things done, and that's what he did. How do you explain the fact he had Priests murdered? Sound like a good Catholic boy?

If I took a picture of you next to the Pope, does that make you a great Catholic by itself? What if it was a Rabbi....are you suddenly now Jewish?

What a bizarre reach.

If you or someone you know is a Christian because he was just baptized into it and not because he choose to be. He grew up with that but did not do as what a Christian should do, would you still condemm Christianity if that one is Hilter? Many people in Islamic nations are not doing what a peaceful Muslim should do, you call this particular group as terrorists do you consider all Muslims as evil?
Hitler hated the Jews but he allowed his comrades to protect the Catholics in Rome and made agreement with Islamic leaders to spare them; are those he protected also evil? Hitler did not do his bidding for religious sake, he just wanted to create a New World and he knew who among the religious groups will be a permanent headache for him. He is not completely an atheist neither a complete believer of faith. He is just a great opportunist and delussionist of grandeur.

I watched the video, and am not surprised that the catholic church welcomed Hitler, as the pope is just as much a deceiver as Hitler was. Though there were some good catholic people, who also put their own lives on the line for the Jews. This is more the christian way. Hitler brought out the worst in some people and the best in others.

Any Christians who say Hitler was an atheist just haven't read their history. Hitler was a Christian. A Lutheran to be exact. He got his genocidal ideas FROM Martin Luther.

Hitler crossed a line into occultism, but he was not a Wiccan or a Pagan. Just a Christian gone MAD!

He was SOOOO not an atheist.

Dear "Serving:" Hitler was NOT a Catholic. He was - as I said - a Lutheran. The Lutheran Church stood with him for a very long time. With the exception of Dietrich Boenhoeffer. After he executed Boenhoeffer - they realized none of them were safe so all bets were off.

RATS! I stand corrected!! According to "Hitler's Secret Conversations" (1941-1944) Hitler utterly rejected Christianity and described himself as a complete pagan.

No it does not mean that all Christians are evil just because one person committed such atrocities. That would be like saying all muslims are terrorists. And I do not believe that Hitler was a true Christian because no follower of Jesus would kill millions of people.
