Very simple
Your emotional life - them there feelings - represent the surface play of your spiritual life.
Your feelings tell you how your processing experiential reality on a spiritual level.
Now it's not a level playing pitch some people get an easy run and others are just pulverised by experience for various reasons; some obvious (poverty, injustice) others not so obvious (jealousy, envy, demonic intervention).
The point is God sets the pitch up in a cosmic sense and your're supposed to be able to work with the life challenge that's assigned to you - even if you're going mad in the process, like me.
The thing is you must try to take responsibility for how you cope and you need to pray and attend Mass regularly; receiving the sacraments as regularly as possible. Give up everything that doesn't help - drugs, alcohol, abusive relationships and associations.
In the end you're your own work of art and spirituality is about attaining the sublime graces so evident in the personality of Jesus Christ. Better to be sublime and without purpose or function than to be a fantastic in the worlds eyes and yet graceless inside.
Anyway best of luck - try to be real but try to be as good as you can be with a view to getting better day by day.
Mystery comes into it but the real work is the work of self even if it's a botched portrait in everyone else's view..Try the Rosary it works...but it's like marathon running you got to keep going and bearing in mind that when the going gets tough, the tough get......

Religion is a set of beliefs that demands from its followers to comply, whether it makes sense to you or not you do it because its all about fear and greed, fear of hell and greed of heaven.
Spiritualism is the stand we take in our lives with a conviction that this is a good way to do it because we experience things in actuality. Religion takes away you intelligence because it teaches us why question? The book already says it! Just follow, where as in Spirituality we question truth, when we experience it we accept it as our path. In Spirituality the seeker is constantly looking for peace. A follower of religion followes because it was practiced by the forefathers, kept as a tradition, you are born into it so continue, how can forefathers go wrong. They are a herd of sheep, in Spirituality a lion is born, willing to live alone and accept its uniqueness, Only in Spirituality we realize our individuality and individuality is our birth right the real expression of who we are. Our core is found best in Spirituality where as in the other we loose it!

gladly ( it doesnt get asked often lol )
spiritualism is 3 fold ( philosophy science and religion )
it is based on the eternal existence of spirit proven through spirit communication
there are 7 principles to spiritualism
http://www.snu.org.uk/seven.htm
it began as a modern spiritualist movement when the fox sisters claimed to hear rappings , and this was investigated and experimented on
the rappings would give answers to questions asked , and because of them , they uncovered the remains of a body in the house of the Fox sisters
the link below will be of more help xx
http://www.snu.org.uk/index2.htm
as for the exploiting remark
spiritualism does not exploit anyone as any readings given in church are done freely and it is beautiful

aww Pangel beat me to it with the link :(
Ok,Im knackered so quickly in nutshell.
Basically I believe in the afterlife and karma...& focusing on my spirit.
I also believe in Gd being a force in the universe...in fact to me Gd is the universe.
I think universe is mirror and you get back what you put out.neg or pos.
Im not big on religion-its manmade- but might take bits here and there..(I discard the nonsense bits)
The best tool I know for spiritual growth has to be buddhism.
Its deep but its like going within to find the answers instead of looking outside.
Its so hard to explain because its not like religion where we just bang on about verses and so forth :)
Love and light,
Look at link below.
