I'm told to use the paint bucket, but can't find it in the tool box. There probably is an equivalent, but what is it and how do I use it?

In Photoshop CS2 it is under the gradient tool which is the 6th icon from the top on the right of the vertical toolbar which has 2 icons side by side. I have learned to always check under icons for hidden additional tools. Just as I found that the red eye removing tool is hidden under the bandaid healing tool of CS2 in the same toolbar on the left.
