Don't forget:
1: JRR Tolkein was a devout Catholic
2: He was very familiar with Norse mythology, the likes found in the Poetic and Prose Edda
3: Some of the names, such as Gandalf, were taken straight out of Norse poetry (the Voluspa specifically)
4: He got the inspiration for the elven runes from the Elder (or Common Germanic) Futhark, an ancient alphabet/divination system
Look it up.

Blasphemous, one book is a piece of fiction, the other is a great piece of Holy Scripture. How dare you even compare the two. It is your opinion, your right, NOT to believe in the Bible, but, you should have enough manners not to insult or try to belittle those of us that do believe. The Bible, besides being a Holy book to us, is also a good history book for every one. One is just a "story" the other a "Holy" book, a piece of "Literature, a "History" book, so much more than a piece of hollywood entertainment.

not only is it a better story but it a lot more believable. the reason i don't believe in frodo and gandalf is because tolkien admitted his books where works of fiction unlike the authors of the bible who lie to everyone and try and pass their book off as truth.

Well LOTR probably makes more sense and doesn't drastically change tone like the Bible does from the Old Testament to the New Testament. Old Testament is like mythology and God is angry and spiteful. New Testament is all Jesus and God loves everyone.
And LOTR doesn't condone slavery or beating your slaves like the Bible does. Or killing someone for working on the Sabbath Day.
