This site will give you an inexpensive regimen to treat your acne - it's an entire regimen that will walk you through cleansing, treatment, and moisturizing, and will advise you on which over the counter products to buy. Trust me, this really works, and it's cheaper than Proactiv. It's the only topical remedy that's worked for me - even prescription creams didn't do better. In fact, even if you've tried Proactiv before and it didn't work for you, this probably will. The guy who runs this site basically gives a breakdown of why Proactiv is moderately effective to begin with, and how modifying your use of Proactiv products can make the results even better.

If your acne involves large cysts and nodules, you may find that Accutane may be the only solution to clear your skin completely. Once your skin has been cleared with Accutane, you can use the regimen to keep it that way.

If you are female, you may have hormonal acne. If this is the case, you'll likely notice that your skin gets worse at certain times during your monthly cycle. Certain contraceptives can help with hormonal acne if you find that topical remedies are not enough. See your doctor.

Also, just a general tip - drink lots of water! I find that my skin stays a lot clearer if I keep myself hydrated.

Well, the only effective alternative treatments involve changing your diet. Change your diet to one where you eat mostly vegetables plus lean meat and drink only water. No grains. No processed foods whatsoever. Usually, that will solve the problem.

Failing that. The ONLY treatments that do a damn thing come from your dermatalogist. Likely, the problem is your body is not secreting enough IgA. This immuno-suppression should be of some concern to you for much more than the stupid acne. Fixing the problem involves adopting the diet above. A doctor will treat the problem with antibiotics to kill the bacteria that shouldn't be there in the first place because your immune system ain't doing its job.

If that doesn't cut it, they will use a drug like Retin A to destroy the sebaceous glands in your skin. Without these plugging your pores, that bacteria won't have a place to grow in to form acne. It works, but has side effects you should thoroughly (and I do mean THOROUGHLY) discuss with your dermatalogist.

None of the over the counter products do anything at all. Certainlu, none of the silly new age crap alternative treatments (other than common sense) do anything at all.

i bet you most of your answers will be some kind of acne facial treatment like Proactive or something like that. You seem to have an internal problem and using acne washes, toners and moisturizers won't work. There is a product that i have been using for many years called "Murad Pure skin" it is a pill that you ingest which starts to supress hormones that creates acne. the bottle says final results in 6 weeks but i started to clear up in 1 week. Also I recommend you use it TOGETHER with another acne skin treatment such as the murad one or proactive.

you can obtain Murad Pure skin pills at Sephora,
heres a link to the website, you can order online

good luck

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

I would just go see a doctor and he'll probably prescribe an acne lotion like Cleocin-T or a pill like Minocin, and then I would buy a gentle cleanser like St. Ives Apricot Radiance Deep Cleaning Cream Cleanser. I wouldnt bother with Proactiv, because it's $40+ depending on what set you get, and you could get something from the doctor (if you have insurance) for way less.

Don't wash your face with soap. A doctor told me it's bad. Go to your loacal Rita Aid or some other place and look for some cream to wash your face with and get a moisturizer also. Acne is someti=hing lots of people go through and it's longer for some.
