My hair is oily too and I have to wach it everyday as well. Be sure you use a conditioner but only on the ends to keep it from drying out (whatever you can pull into a ponytail needs conditioner). Also, use a wide tooth comb on it when it's wet to keep it from breaking; never sleep with your hair pulled up. I also give my hair a break on the weekends; if I'm not going anywhere on a Saturday, I might skip washing it that day. Finally, when you dry it, don't blow dry it until it's bone dry, it's ok to leave it a little damp-this will keep it from drying out and breaking.

I have the same problem, always have. My hair is oily 24 hours after I wash it, no matter what products I use or don't use, and no matter what I do. But I also always hear it's not good to wash it daily. So here's what I do. I wash it daily, but I try to do other things that ARE good for my hair.. like not blow drying it every day, and using a deep conditioner once a week, a hair mask once a month, and a hot oil treatment once a month. This way I at least feel like even though I'm washing it daily, I'm taking care of it too. Good luck :)

Ok, now listen to me because I have had oily hair for way to long, but now its fine because of so much experience. I known this sounds werid, but:
1. The best thing to use for oily hair is talcum powder. Just use a little and gently rub it in, and rub it in good so your hairs not white! That takes away lots of oils. Second, if you still have oily hair, or just don't want to use talcum powder(by the way thats the white powder stuff for babies, but hey, it works!), use "witch hazel", damp a cotton ball into in and rub that in. Both these give off a weird smell, so I dont use it when I go out. Or, i put both these in, take a shower, then go and my hair isn't oily!
2. Now for the shower, I swim so I take a shower after practice and in the morning. In the morning I use "herbal essance clarifying shampoo", its green adn smells great, and at night i use "head and shoulders", they all work good(I have dandruff too).
3. After the shower, do not comb your hair. I just let it sit for a little, then I brush it, then I use a hair dryer, and then I comb it.
4. During the day, touch your hair as little as possible. The oils from your hands and skin go into your hair, leaving it more oily
5. Use a oil cleansing lotion on your face, to keep your bangs nice all day.
6. Do not get stressed out. This causes your oil glangs to produce even more oil!! Just melow fellow
Sounds like a lot, huh? Well, you get used to it. And hey, anything for beatuy right?

No you should't wash your hair everyday it will start to fall out. Seriously. I know exactly what you're talking about 'coz my hair does the same thing. But, what my mom taught me is: When you see that your hair is oily then just get some baby powder (Johnson&Johnson) and sprinkle some powder on the oily spots then comb it throught or brush it through. It makes your hair not oily looking. I swear to God it works wonders. Try it!
But, for realz though just wash your hair, like, every other day. Plus, id you do wash it everyday, then it'll start losing it's natural bounce, oils (those don't make your hair look oily), it's sheen, shine, and lots of stuff like that. And your hair will look really dull.
So, try me suggestion that my mom told me. It works.
P.S. just make sure that when you're done combing/brushing the powder through that there isn't any white [from the power] showing.

Try using a clarifying shampoo or something like Herball Essences that absorbs oil. Works pretty well. Also baby powder helps in between to soak up greasyness. try using cold water at the end of your shower on your hair and avoid to much damage and hair products that make it oily faster. Oh and the more your brush it the oiler it becomes faster.

I had the same problem. I read in a magazine that you should turn the water down to cold (after you've washed your hair and are almost done in the shower) and put your head under it for a little bit (as long as you can stand) and it helps close the follicles or tightens them. I started doing that and my hair's not oily anymore.

its not so good... try using a clarifying shampoo, and instead of washing all of your hair all the time, try just shampooing the roots sometimes. also, use conditioner on the ends of your hair, but never on the roots. that should help keep it healthy but not oily.
also, for a quick fix when you don't have time to wash, spray a little hair spray on your roots, let it dry, and brush. it will soak up some of the oil.
