It does matter!
I have the same hair! haha,
You need to get Hot Tools-CERAMIC!
Don't get a cheapy one, I really does make a difference.
Get a spray too that prevents burning your hair.

Chi it is tha best one ever I also have very think curly nappy hair and i just straighten my hair in the morning and it is good all day unless it get wet. It doesn't even frizz if there is moisture in the air. It only curls/fizzes when you get it wet. They r very expensive and about tha only place you can get them are a salon or on line at Chi straightener.com

a ceramic straightner works best. try using straighting shampoo and conditioner when you bathe/shower. My straightner is one of those kind that straightens your hair when its wet and when its dry. its ceramic too so it works great!

Good luck!!

It doesn't matter. Just as long they can reach temperatures of over two or three hundred degrees F, then they should work fine.
