I use a considerable amount of math every day. Fractions come in handy while cooking in the kitchen. Geometry comes into play in the quilts I make. I use algebra to figure out how much longer it's going to take me to get from point a to point b if I don't get a chance to pass the guy going 45 miles an hour ahead of me.

Depends on what you do: Accountants and CPA's use lots of math; people in construction, plumbing, electricians use geometry skills with angles, triangles, etc; engineers use physics, geometry, calculus, etc. All of the basic math courses leading up to these classes are necessary to build the skills you need before studying trig, etc. Plus, math builds deductive and inductive reasoning skills that are useful in problem-solving situations throughout life; develops character; and teaches you to be patient, methodical and persistent!
