damn… that's a good question…
The acceptable answer is this: "i'm a simple, delicate virgin flower that has never felt the touch of another man until you came into my life, you beautiful stud muffin!"
You don't EVER give an answer to this question, because you are comparing sexual partners, and that is just WRONG. That is, unless the new guy just sucks, and then it's 100+.
Who you enjoy relations with is your business, and no one elses. Don't buy into the hype that you have to share, because unless everybody's in the same room on the same booty bang, no one ever REALLY wants to know.
Lie, lie and lie some more. Say 1. Or use the rule of threes:
For men, it's X divided by 3. If he says he's slept with 3, it's 1.
For women it's X times 3. If you say 3, it's been at least 9.
Time tested, player approved.
Hope it helps!

If you are single 0, if you are married 1. Some people seem to think that more sex partners you have the more satisfied you will be, that is not the case, dedicating yourself to one person that you love is far more rewarding than any number of sex partners. You will also feel much closer to that one lucky person, and at the same time you should pick a partner that holds himself to the same standard. To some this may seem almost impossible but it is very possible and in reality it is the best way of keeping your self esteem, dignity and body in good condition.

There is no "acceptable number" for either sex, at least in the United States of America. Whether zero or 100+, it doesn't matter.
Some people are prudish, however, and you should never reveal your number of previous sex partners to anyone except a very good friend whom you can trust.
Hope this helps.

well I'm 22 and I've only had 2, that seems to be rare though these days, so I'm thinking maybe like 5? I don't think that the number should be different for a man though, I think it's pretty gross to meet a guy that's had like more then 5 sex partners.

The very notion that there is an "acceptable" number is ridiculous. Just have sex with as many people as you want and quit worrying about what others think.
