Sorry for the repeats computer is acting up. I do want her to have one more litter, she has had one already about 2 years ago. I always thought that mating her would make her go out of heat. She typically stays in heat for 2 weeks. Then after her next litter I will get her fixed.

Get her fixed after it's over. Not sure if they can fix her now...

I don't think there's anything else you can do then. Just put a diaper on her and wait it out. I had the same problem with my cat. I wanted to breed her but I couldn't take it anymore so I had her fixed. At least dogs only go in heat 2 times a year. Cats go in heat every month. It was so funny b/c her cycle was the same as mine. I just wanted to strangle her!

Why do you want anothe litter - in fact why even the first??
If she is not a dog who has finished her AKC titles oris close, she is a pet. Pet puppies are a dime a dozen.
There are so many poms who need homes jsut because of such breedings.
Are your prepared to,or did you, pay for all the health exams on her for hereditary conditions? Bred her to amale with the same checks done?
Take responsibility for every one of those puppies for its entire life - includig taking back every single one whose owner can't keep it
Answer any of these no and jsut schedule an appointment to spay here as soon as she comes out of heat and spare her the risk of dying in whelping (a lot do thought a "litter or tow" pet breeder doesn't realize it) and geting uterine/ovarian cancer
Over 50% of all dogs born in the US every year are bred by people who "just want a litter from my pet". GO figure out how many are homeless and in shelters. (It won't be the carefully bred litter of AKC champions whose breeders insist that it if the owner can't keep them, they come back to them)

its part of life so deal with the whining and attention and if you cant get her spayed. if you cant cope with her whining and needy attention i wouldnt like to see your state with a litter of pups for the second time. dont breed her again just to calm her for your sake think about your dog.

although the critter is driving you to distraction, getting her spayed is of course, the number one fix all, so to speak, a normal heat usually runs two weeks and really, there's nothing you can do, the poor babe's hormones are in over drive. sorry and good luck

Go have a word with your vet, there is now available the equivalent to our birth control pill. Mating is not the answer unless you want the pups that go with the pregnancy

Get her spayed. Not only will it keep her from going into heat, it is the responsible thing to do as a dog owner, plus it will keep her from getting uterine cancer.

get her spayed...that's the only thing my neighbors could do with theirs. there is pills you can try to give them to counteract the hormones, but i've heard it's pricey. try having a full-grown female german shepherd in heat! you're the lucky one...lol

maybe you should consider having it spayed or you could just put a diaper on it and wait it out
