Just be aware that you will be working the streets with little protection. You will have a radio and maybe a stab vest (depending which force) and that is it. No handcuffs, spray or cosh. You are supposed to be non-confrontational, but are in a uniform that attracts it.
Regular police officers will have little respect for you as you will be unable to deal with any situations you come across as you have no power of detention or search. PCSO's are the governments cheaper option to solve the issue of having an understaffed and over-stretched police force.
And the public often dont recognise or understand the difference between you and a police officer.
Dont get me wrong, its good that you want to join and do your bit for the community. The pay is good for the job they do... I believe it is £17k start off pay. But the kit and training is inadequate and the role is still confused and misunderstood.
Good luck to you.

The assessment I had was;
Fill out app form.
Wait for a call to see if I advanced to the next stage.
Turn up to an assessment centre where we undertook an interview, a role play, a written exam which had two parts.
Wait for a call to see if if I had made the cut.
Then got allocated where I'd be working and when.
Start training.
We had no fitness test to do at all. PS Abbey B That was answered by my son who is a PCSO in Cambrigeshire, and he loves it. He is applying for the regular police next year. If you fancy it, go for it girl! I wish I`d persued a more interesting career .

The starting salary is 16,000 a year. If you go onto your local police website, you should be able to get more information, or pop into your local job centre, and they will be able to let you know whether or not they are recruiting in your area.
I sent for the application form a year ago, and it was a bit off putting for me,as they need to know your life history inside and out, including your family's, etc etc.
I have nothing to hide, but at the time they had no vacancies in the area i wanted to work in.
If i remember rightly you had to reach a fitness level also.

It additionally states that there are one thousand baby abductions in the united kingdom in comparison with a dozen in Portugal. i do no longer think of the streets could be any safer in any respect. What develop into the final gang appropriate shooting in Portugal and the final shooting in the united kingdom develop into? What toddlers have been killed on the streets of Portugal this month? And in the united kingdom? i could be chuffed to stroll around the Algarve with my daughter on a heat summer night yet i does no longer depart my domicile after nightfall for something in the united kingdom

The previous answers will have told you all about pay and conditions. Having observed them all over London I can say that sadly most of them appear to be a waste of time.I am sure there are exceptions but I haven't seen them so far.
