I've been using permanent color, but I'm considering semi-permanent so it isn't so obvious when my roots start to show. Will the semi permanent give me the gray coverage I want?

If you choose a color that is more close to your roots, then you shouldn't have a problem with the permanent color. Permanent means to stay on forever and semi-permanent means it can fade out. If you don't want the gray to show, use permanent color.

I have gray hair and i am 22..i was born wit it..i have tried since i was 12 to use semi-perm to cover gray...but it doesnt work too great...Permanent is the best way...Its a product called Textures and Tones perm dye, it is excellent, it keeps your hair moisturized and healthy...other permanent dyes tend to try the hair out and the hair becomes weak and it breaks off or you get split ends severly...trust me i know, I not only do hair, but i experience some of the worst.lol.

As long as you are not totally gray, semi will do the trick. Another method to consider is getting high lights, some off-base. This really helps disguise the grays as they come in. As you get older you should go lighter in your hair colour.
