About a week ago my dog was yelping and crying ( really loud ) and his leg was shaking . I was able to get him to calm down and relax and he hasn't cried since . But he wont go up stairs and he wont put any weight on his back legs , I have to carry him everywhere and he is a BIG dog . I plan to get him to a vet next week for x rays but I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and what the problem was ?
He can walk and run fine but when it comes to putting his weight on his back legs he just cowards and gets scaried .

Awww

Ok you need to see the VET sooner if you can.

If its something like a disc or other nerve thing the longer you waitto get treatment the more likely he is to suffer permanent damage.

I knew a dog once that had this go on as well who had a tick that was infecting him... much to everyones surprise.. he almost died before they found the cause...

If it were my dog I would not wait ...
He is prob in discomfort and scared.
Good Luck

Try to move up the appointment - Monday maybe???

Here are some things is could be:

Torn cruciator ligament (surgery time) - move normally at times but don't want to bear weight

Wrenched or pulled muscles in leg, hip or lumbar sacral - streching movemens might be less painful than contracting and taking weight depending upon the location of the trauma

Chipped bone in joint

HE IS NOT BEING A COWARD - HE IS IN PAIN!!!!!

What the heck are you waiting for? Your dog could have a broken leg and waiting until next week will be too late, in fact to much time has gone by for them to fix it if it is broken. Ya know I can not stand when someone knows their animal is hurt or ill and they wait for a week or two to take them to the vet. For petes sake if it was your child would you wait a couple weeks before you take them to the doctor. GET YOUR DOG TO THE VET TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My neighbor broke his dog's leg and we took him to the vet, needless to say he was charged with animal cruelty because he waited for a few days before anything was done. He almost lost his leg. He is only 8 months old and we have him now but it cost us a pretty penny but it is better than letting him suffer for whenever he was going to get him to the vet. Why wait. If you can't afford to take care of your pet then you shouldn't own one.

I am sorry if I sound rather angry but I am, yesterday it was some girl who seen her dog eat rat poison and wanted to wait to see what it would do and all the other pet owners who don't take their pets to the vet. I love my dogs and I don't care if I go without groceries if my dog is hurt they go to the vet immediately. I just set up payments to pay the vet. Do your dog a favor and Please take her to the vet immediately. Please.

Big dogs often have a problem called hip displasia, in which the ball of the joint can actually come out - it hurts a LOT. Take him to the vet immediately, this can't wait for next week.

It sounds similar to what happened to a dachshund we once had. It was a spinal disc issue, and needed to be dealt with immediately to prevent permanent paralysis. If I were you I'd tell the vet it's an emergency and get you dog in, just to be safe.

Hi, something very similar happen to one dog I had when I was young, I took her to the vet and he said it was distemper, he explained that a rat must have done pee in his food bowl and my dog drank from it. My dog did not last long, so go to the vet and I really hope it doesn't have distemper. Good luck!

Yea, poor puppy is right. WHY would you wait a week if you know your puppy is having a problem?????

It is your responsibility as a pet owner to take care of your dog and get him the care that is needed WHEN it is needed which is IMMEDIATELY!!!!
