I think that being thin lets you wear clothes a little better, and so they have more fashion, more trendy fashion=beauty? But being bony is kind of sick looking, and if there was a shortage on food..they would die off first...hmm

Its dumb i know but it is a serious problem with even kids as young as 10. There is so much pressure to be thin that kids and adults are killing themselves to look like the models in the magazine ads. You have to eat to live. Not to mention ladies that starving yourself robs your body of calcium which weakens your bones and they will start to break. It will also make your teeth and hair fall out. NOw is that sexy?

Being a HEALTHY thin is good and beautiful. Being a stick is generally not. But there are women who are just natrually thin, there are women who are natrually thicker. I think just about every woman is beautiful. And based on frame size and ethnicity everyone can't be a twig. Variety is good.
As far as trendy clothes, that's B.S because I am rail thin by nature and I hate trends of most sorts. And a lot of trendy fashions are not only expensive but incredibly ugly. Why would you want to be another one in the crowd? I'm rarely caught in anything other than plain tees and jeans or fetish type wear (corsets and whatnot)

The objective of modeling is to show off the clothes and sell them. If the models are too curvy and well endowed, it takes away the attention from the clothes. Too much distraction .
The audience will NOT think or say out loud "What gorgeous clothes. Those will make me / her look gorgeous too" .
Instead the audience will think "Wow, she is one hot babe. Now what was she selling again?"
Now, here comes the continuation of the story. On the magazines, teenagers see them, see how attractive they look, and equate that attraction to the thinness, not to the clothes . Uh oh.

Actually, that is not true. I hang out with a lot of guys because I find them easier to get along with. I have asked them close to the same question. They actually prefer thicker girls, not fat, but not skinny. They said that girls with a little meat on them are "sexy". Skinny girls usually turn them off because "there's nothing there". I actually have to disagree with the statement that skinny girls can wear clothes better because if you're not exactly a skinny girl, but not fat, you can fill out you're clothes more. The guys I hang out with say that they don't prefer skinny girls because they have no shape. I think that, depending on your height, 120 is a good weight. I am 5'4 and my weight fluctuates between 115 and 120 and they are perfect weights for me...that's what I think and that's what my doc said.

Who says it is...some designer who only wants his clothes to look good on a skinny "hanger" of a model. I recently saw a study that says that men prefer women to be naturally healthy looking - meaning a little meat around the mid body especially the hips. But you should be more concerned with being healthy for "you". You are what you eat - and what excercises you do!

well, super thin isn't the most attractive. No one likes to look at a bony frame. Thin, however, is attractive because it's the healthiest weight to be at. Health = beauty ^^

Actually they would last the longest if there was a shortage of food, they eat less.
There is no reason for it, thin women look good. Maybe not 80 lbs skinny, that is not attractive.

Whenyou are Super Thin, your features stand out better, as does your figure. Scanty clothes and ethnic make up will not make you look over done or tarty. In fact it will add imagination to the spectator's eye as there will be a virginal touch and fantasy!

just within the last 50 years orless has thin been considered attractive ie marilyn monroe etc. bony is not attractive besides it's made to many women sick bullimia is not good

I think it has something to do with looking vulnerable. Some men like the small breast skinny look that reminds them of 8th grade.
