Becoming a foster parent...?

Question

I have had it on my heart to become a foster parent and it's been on my heart for a long time. I finally picked up the phone and called the children's aid society and they'd like me to come for orientation on Monday. Any advice for me if I do become a foster parent? I'm a Christian and a singlemom with a 7 year old daughter, if that info helps. Thanks.

Try not to take things too personally. Some of the older children are angry at life and don't want to be there, it's not personal. And they are the ones who need you most.

I work at a foster care Organization.. just remember to have patience these children have been through so much they will do things that you might not understand .. just be there for them and remember to always treat them just like you would your own child they need someone to listen to them and care and not give up on them so if you can do those things then go for it it is a very rewarding and sometimes heart wrenching experience

I have seen kids who are taken to foster homes and then given back because they don't act right so please just be patient with them .. good luck

I don't have advice, just encouragement...

...I love the entire idea of foster parenting. I didn't really know much about it until a family in my church (2 families, actually, but one in particular) started foster parenting. I think it's a fantastic idea and a very awesome thing to do, and I'd love to do that one day (or at least adopt a kid or two). Just show love...lots and lots of love. Christians doing foster parenting is awesome...
